Converting my E10 to a non-electric bike

Yeah, not really but I thought that might get some attention!

What I actually want to do is change the frame/forks on my non-electric bike (currently a Cove HJ....I won't put the full name for the sake of propriety...) to a frame/forks that can use the wheels from my Cheeb, so that if I fancy an analog day I just swap the wheels over and ride.

I have to confess to being somewhat baffled by modern wheel standards, so I've no idea how to determine whether frames/forks and wheels are compatible any more. Can anyone offer any advice?

The reasoning behind all this is that after spending time riding my electric bike with its big wheels (27.5) and long reach, the Cove feels almost comically small and low. Like riding a clown bike. There's a lot of nice kit on that bike, so it seems a shame to not use it.

For the amount of time involved, far simpler to buy a late analogue bike which seem to be going for next to nothing and enjoy riding a more modern analogue bike with all the trimmings, late Geo and swapping in the goods bits off your Cove as and when you need them. Old frames really are now, yes like clown bikes to ride.

Chances are you won't ride the analogue much as I have found, its a great idea but.

It'll take me less than an hour to swap everything over from the Cove to a new frame.

That said, having looked at frames briefly on ebay they really are silly money, though I still don't know if the E10 is boost or non-boost, or whether the axle length makes any material difference....

There's a big cycle festival over here in York in about a month, and I've had a few bargains from there in the past, so I might just wait until then to pick up a frame. Last year there was a Cove Hummer titanium frame for 40 quid, that I still kick myself for not buying.

E10 is 148mm Boost rear, your fork will dictate whether its 100mm, 142mm, or 148mm, measure it.

Boost spec is front hub width at 110 x 15 and rear hub spacing 148 x 12.

The E-10, assuming you’ve never replaced the fork, is Boost spec.

I’ve got a Cove HJ as well, run it on the stock 26” wheels and a 140mm Pike fork that slackens the geo.

I did have it converted to an E-bike with a TSZD-2, but it’s now a 1x9 analogue bike.

It feels incredibly light compared to my E-bikes, and is a good pub/errand bike that I don’t need to worry about too much. It’s a nice bike blatting around Thetford forest as well!

If you want a cheap full suss frame to build a bike up that will take your eeb wheels, then look at the Vitus frame and shock deals on CRC. You’ll need a new fork, but RS Silver/Gold ones are cheap enough.

Sorry yes you are correct, 148mm is not the front.
