Has anyone else noticed a distinctive loss of power after having either a motor replacement or latest update










I'm very angry about ths been done as it has totally ruined the bike, I may aswell get rid and buy a normal bike.















l noticed a power loss after I had to take the bike back to have its first motor replaced, they did a battery update and instantly noticed it wasn't covering the same miles as previously. Afew months later it had to have yet another motor replacement and battery and tcu cables replaced, I told the shop about the distinct power loss after the first motor replacement and hoped it would be rectified, but it hasnt. Today I went out on exactly the same flat trail I've been riding for the last 18 months and know exactly how much battery and mileage I can do. I'd say it has lost 20% of its power from when it was on the original motor and firmwaEvenThis I was able to conclude by altering the percentage in 10% increments in micro tune.







Even in turbo you can feel the drag as the motor peaks out at around 19mph where previously it would do 24mph, (it has a derestricter fitted, same gear,cadence, tyre pressures, settings the lot. My guess is specialized have done this deliberately to reduce the amount of failure rates on this shite brose motor, rather than making it fit for purpose as it should have been done in the first place. So all this marketing bullshit saying its a 90nm motor is complete rubbish, I don't see how they can just take someone's bike without their say so and reduce its power all to save them money by reducing warranty claims, has anyone else noticed this?

Spackalized are Knut's all-day long.
Not personally a fan of their junk...

You will get lies and poor service from them ...not necessarily the shop but definitely from the manufacturer....

I'm absolutely fuming over this as its totally ruined the bike for the purpose I bought it for. I'll never buy a specialized ever again there nothing but overpriced inadequate designed pushbikes. And to think I paid 10 feckin grand for it

My advice would be to sell it or get a tuning chip

As I said it's already got one fitted, my advice to anyone is don't get your firmware updated and hope that your motor doesn't go tits up as if it does, they automatically install the latest firmware against your say so, you'll end up with a less powerful bike as a result.

That's right I was going to buy the levosiraptor but choose to have their version instead, that way nothing could be then blamed on the rapter cable causing anything.

I previously had a Comp carbon that was bought from a specialized concept store and had endless trouble with it, 4 motor replacements within a few months of purchasing it. I finally got a full refund but not before specialized tried blaming it on the levociraptor I had fitted to it, when I mentioned to them about a certain bike shop they were well in with fitting their own, they soon backed off, that's why I chose to have their own cable they make fitted instead then nothing could be used as an excuse.

Don't know what's going on but when I reply directly the script is formatting all wrong.















it's no big secret and totally legal despite all the bollocks spouted by some who know nothing about the matter, or what's going on behind the scenes. Specialized know full well their fitting these cables and know they designed it, it's far better and reliable than any other on the market, the levociraptor cables are known for triggering error code's.

Every manufacturer is committed to doing whatever it can to prevent derestrcition for the simple reason that if they fail to take sufficient measures they expose themselves to action from the regulators ( most especially in the EU) for undermining the EPAC regulations.
There was most probably one Brose update some time a go which Specialized described as removing the excessive "peaks" of motor support which they thought to be partially responsible for damage to the motor. This was probably back in 2021? There were some comments on here that the motor then felt a little less powerful, but I have seen no continuance of those reports possibly because fewer riders could then compare bikes pre and post that update.
What you can be reasonably sure about however is that any update could include additiional measures to defeat derestrictions devices that in turn have been continuously developed to overcome those measures.

In your case it may be worthwhile removing your derestriction device and see how the motor then responds.

Well you could send the whole bike back to spackalized and say the shop broke it.
Let them examine it and see how it goes......
Or find another dealer to examine it and give you a second opinion

Don't believe it's anything to do with the shop,it's the firmware update I think or the motor. I should have taken a note of the wheel size setting, maybe that's wrong

assuming the new cable required is the speed sensor cable that is something the shop is likely to have in stock and is not expensive..............certainly no reason not to try the bike without the derestrictor which could be now doing all sorts of weird things with the amount of sensor information the latest CANs are able to formulate.

Yeah I guess it's worth a try as when I tried the bike with everything witched off against it been on eco there was virtually no difference at all.

I wish riders who think their motor has become less powerful, more powerful, whatever, would post logs of their rides. BLEvo, for example, will record power delivered from the battery to the motor every second. It is easy to look at the logs to determine if the motor is supplying less assistance then it used to (or more assistance) in the same riding situation, e.g. a long steady climb.

I have had my Levo for 5 years now, and the motor power was noticeably reduced with every firmware update - and when finally it needed a replacement motor (after nearly 4 years), the power was even less.
Of course these power reductions were intentional, in order to lengthen motor life, but it is mildly annoying that my bike is only about 70% as powerful as when it was new - and slightly noisier too.

can you not simply turn up pedal assist and acceleration in Mission Control? I know in the past firmware updates tended to put all those setting back to factory settings which for acceleration was zero and most found they had to turn acceleration up to c 50%

I've already turned everything up from previous settings, as a result I'm now getting less milage and can't cover the same distance, i usually do 60 to 80 miles per trail. Today i even turned shuttle up to 80% and acceleration response to 100 and still it was significantly less powerful. This proved to me the motor is no longer putting out the same nm.
