I tested my new motor yesterday, and particularly on some very steep hill climbs, where I know exactly how my old motor performed. The climbs are on the very limit of motor power, traction, and wheelieing. If my motor was 20% down like some report, I'd have to add 120 Watts to the pedalling Watts I'm already putting in, so even a few Watts down would be very noticeable, and I certainly couldn't add another 120 Watts!
I can categorically say, my new motor and firmware is not less powerful than my 2020 motor. It rides really well, very smooth, slightly quieter than before, and plenty of power when needed.
The only differences I've noticed, is the walk assist actually works properly now, and in trail mode, where I used to use assist at 40%, and max motor power at 40 - 60%, I found it assists too much at 40%, so quickly hit an apparent brick wall as the motor power is all used up. Setting assist to 25% allows my legs to do more work, so get full motor power when I'm working hard, as it used to be.
In summary, I'm very happy with the latest firmware, except my Peartune doesn't work any more. As before, motor assist starts cutting out at 15.5mph, and is completely gone at 16mph making the speed limiter a smooth transition.
