The shop assumed the belt snapped. It wouldn't pedal backward. I wasn't offered the option to repair it.
This has now changed and Specialized shops are told they have the option of using us for sustainable repair as we are now the trusted service partners for Specialized. This is also being rolled out worldwide through our partner network.

Do you have any statistics what the most common failure rate of the newest brose motors is? Like do most of them snap the belt after x amount of mileage or is it more varied or due to water ingress like you mentioned?

I remember two or three yeara ago before specialized did the small updates I read may accounts of people who snapped like 5 belts in a row.

Oh ... changing the belt is something pretty easy, assuming you can get the belt. I understand that nowadays lots of shop have no clue about that it is inside like a car and error code.

This is a pretty standard issue, it is a wear part of the motor but the new belt they give you now is really stronger.

By any chance, did they let you keep the motor? Because if this is it you might be able to fix it for a very small price and have a spare one or being able to sell it!

Ked som kupil novy bicykel ,hned som si naistaloval taketo kryty motora aby sa mi do neho nedostala voda.Teraz 1x za rok kontrolujem stav a vymenim vazelinu pod krytmi.Je vylucene aby sa cez tie krytky dnu dostala voda.
