Hi guys,
I am not planning on making any more.
I have one that needs finishing and I suppose Dave Carlyon was in first so has priority.

I also have some seconds I could sell for a discounted rate.

I'm not finding a good key grommet for my bike. Where did you find yours? Is it off of some common household item?

5/8” rubber grommet, should be able to find at your local auto parts store and possibly hardware store.

Bracket weight is about 48g

Is there really a need to install the foam
pad? It caused power off issues for me (when used with the OEM battery lock).

I’ve left it out and just use the new bracket. The battery slots right down into the terminal connections (so no power off risk) and I can’t really see how it can rattle with the new bracket preventing any movement.?

No idea really Dave, I had the pad in stock after ordering one a few months back, just hadn’t gotten around to fitting it. If it causes me a problem then I’ll remove it.

I dont use it either
To me all the pad does is lifts the battery away from the contacts as i think you have experienced
So for me i wont be using one .

Hi Guys,

And greets from Denmark 🇩🇰

I’ve just stumbled over this thread, since I was on the look for a solution to remove the RIB-system.

Are “any” of you guys doing a bracket for the 750wh battery ? If yes, I would gladly buy one :)

And speaking of the new Rail, has anybody seen a solution to replace the Kiox300-mount with a Garmin-mount on the fixation on the top tube / Knockblox? (Using the Trek-mount, but with a Garmin interface instead of the Kiox, and then only use the LED-remote)

Cheers

Martin

My view is/was, that the battery is held firm at the front end and the soft foam pad will help hold the battery tight at the bottom end reducing any potential risk to the connector and potentially help dampening movement. I’ll see if I have any problems when I’m out Monday. I can’t see it causing a problem, especially being a Bosch supplied part…happy to remove it if I do.

Received mine last week, I too have the foam piece on the lower connection plate and I've not had any issues with it - however I have some much thinner foam tape that Is going to be replacing it when I fit the lock delete kit.

Well I’ve yet to try it in anger as it looks like my motor is knackered! Turned on Sunday to check bike over and nothing Kiox isn’t registering…man I love these bikes but I’m so over issues with them already. Not booked it in yet just chucked the bike In the garage and forgotten about it

Hello

this ist Chris from germany.

I´ve made some changes to my rail 9.8-2020. I remove the battery lock and buildt a plate with a quick release. So changing the battery is done in 30s. I use 2x 500wh battery, but it will also fit with the 625wh-tight but it works.

The cover ist carbonfiber hinged with silicon at the frame.

I saves a lot of weight (alltogether ca.650g) and improve the usability. Only painting need a little improvement.

Overall weight is 21,5 kg with 500wh an DHF DD rear (some other changes done)-with pedals.

Best wishes

Chris

I would love to see a parts list for this solution. Really think the Quick lock is better than the bolt solution in case of battery removal after ride🤔

I fitted the bracket today to my 750wh Rail.

Took a while to get it lined up, had to drill one more hole into the bracket to align it to the 750 mounting holes.

There is a lot of stuff to remove. A bit of a faff getting the rail plate off, but not too difficult.

Weights and measures below.

I also used some P rubber to fill the top and bottom gap.

The bad news…. My intermittent electrical issue has returned but I’ll post separately about that.

Request for Testers
Inspired by this post, I created a 3D Print Version including the bracket and a keyhole closer. Weight goes from 331gr down to 23gr. So far tested on Rail 9.9 and 9.8, Model Year 2021.
Out for testing on: 2020 Rail 9 - 625Wh, 2022 Rail 9 GX - 625Wh, 2023 Rail 9.8 GX - 750Wh

Drop me a PM, if you would like to test it.
Rules would be:
- I would need your Rail Model, Year, Battery Capacity, as well as your delivery Address.
- Testing audience is limited to the first requester per Model / Year.
- You cover the shipping plus production cost. Total would be for Switzerland CHF 11.0, Europe: 8€ and rest of the World 12$.
- You need a TORX T10, T20, T25H and 2mm allen key as well as some loctite screw lock.
- You will provide helpful feedback. Either a good to go or what would need to be changed to make it work on your bike.

Happy Rail Riding !

I can tell you from experience, the 750 battery has different mounting hole positions that the 625 battery. So you will need a different bracket design.

The two central holes are in very different positions. I had to drill the bracket to get just one of them to fit.
