Impressive work, @Cobee !

Isn't it correct, that a gen4 motor could be configured for derailleur or internal gear hub shifting? From what I've read those differ in how the motor detects that shifting is occurring and in how the motor lowers power that moment.

If that is correct, then is it an issue if you mount an IGH configured motor to a derailleur bike or vice versa? Can you know which one the motor is from the diagnostic report? Can this setting be changed by workshop? So many questions, bear with me. have an IGH bike with a 2016 Performance Line gen2 motor. I would like to put a gen4 motor to it.

Regards,
Janne

Hi Cobee!
I am stunned about your work - and would love to buy a set of adapters.
Unfortunately I got a link to your work by a friend, so I am new to this forum and can not send PM's yet.
I really hope you still have available adapters in stock for me.
Best regards,
Arild, Oslo - Norway
Hi Arild,
I hope your conversion on my adapters will well.
Show us your progress. I’am curious. Good luck.

Hi Janne,
Unfortunately I haven’t idea how work autoshifting. My conversion done with non-smart gen4 motor. Is the easiest way - battery and controller is compatible.
If you need adapter with bolts please let me know.
Paweł.

Hi, I will - the adapter was bolt on - but I have some issues to modify the original egg-formed cover used on 2017-2019 (by Cube, Trek, Riese&Müller and others) bikes, so I struggle with some esthetic details . After my vacation I will try to make a 3d-printed cover to make the conversion better looking. But as said - your adapters was bolt on - very easy to mount, and I can not see any better way to modify it to make it easier to adopt the egg-cover, so I will work more with the cover to make it fit better on my Riese&Muller Delite (2017).

Thank you for your reply. I will have to think is the engine swap something I am able to do at the moment.

The most obvious issue is where to buy a replacement motor. I see that they are available in central Europe but not so much here in Finland. I wonder if they are willing to send abroad.

The second, although minor, issue is that my bike also has the egg shaped cover that I would need to fix.

Hi,
I'd be interested to know how the cover design turns out. Please keep us updated!

What bike you have ?
If someone have a Trek Powerfly 9.7 or 9.9 I have a complete fitting covers for these bikes. For Other bikes frames, covers need to be fitting individually. Sometimes original are correct sometimes not.
Have a nice day :)

Hi! It is a city bike, Lapierre Overvolt Eden Park with a 2016 Performance Line (non-CX) motor and a Enviolo/Nuvinci N380 hub. It has an eggshell shaped motor cover so perhaps Trek Powerfly covers do not fit.

Thanks anyway!

Cables are not routed properly, yet. Right cover fits mostly but left needs to be modified. Or a 3D model designed. For now I think I'll just cut the left cover so that it fits and add some Sikaflex/sealant/adhesive if needed.

I will be able to test ride the bike tomorrow if I can find sprockets.

Anyway. Impressive adapter kit you have provided, @Cobee !

Finally managed to get the bike running. It is good. Pedaling past 25 km/h is not so hard any more. Added torque can be felt when going uphill. I need to do something about the covers. Maybe tomorrow.

Edit: Having 12 v lights is a nice bonus. Now I can get a headlamp with high beam.

Cover fixed. It turned out better than I had expected.

Chainring side gave a surprise. There was not enough clearance between the the cover and the chainring bolts. So I cut the case and covered the holes with duct tape for now. Later I will 3D print black disc with a hole for crank and glue it to the case from the inside. Also same for the logo hole. Perhaps a spider with some offset would have worked instead. But it would have changed chainline and perhaps that could've been a problem.
