:ROFLMAO:

I don't disagree that it's expensive. It is expensive. If you don't think it's expensive you're a very lucky person !

But at the same time it's a product, from a line of products. It's the top of the line from Specialized - you expect to pay a premium.

It's also a choice. I'm sure most of us spend money upgrading parts on our bikes expecting it will make the bike better and us ride smoother/faster. The reality is that for most of us, it's us, not the bike which needs upgrading.

These have all the bits you could ever dream of already bolted on. They're new, they're shiny, if money was no object you'd buy one. We all like to buy nice things. 99% of the people who buy them will maybe go 1% faster. But who cares, they've bought something they wanted and they're happy.

I just don't understand why anyone complains about the price ?

It's like having a weird mental conversation in your head.

That bikes too expensive.
So buy a different bike.
But I want that bike and it's too expensive.
Just buy the cheaper one ?
But this one is better.
Maybe that's why it's more expensive ?

Bike prices are all crazy unless you're in the supermarket. A large part of that is component cost - but again, it's an optional lifestyle decision isn't it ?

These are flagship bikes. Some people will want that and will pay for it. Some people won't and they'll buy something else.

Years ago Specialized made a sub brand of cheaper bikes .. all that did was piss everyone off .. Sometimes you just can't win.

I'm sure the run of the mill mainsteam aluminium bikes will be a huge hit. They'll probably be more expensive than a lot of the competition, but again, it's a choice you make. So why complain about it ?
no complaining about the price from me - just commenting , to be taken in the same way as if I'd said I'd rather they used rockshox forks instead of fox.

Like you say - it is what it is. I wont buy one (like I wont buy an apple iphone - I'll go android instead for much less money) , I'll buy something cheaper - I'm sure specialized (and apple) dont care.

I have searched high and low!! will the battery on the new bike fit the previous generation? so I can still use my bike for years to come.
Could of scrolled through 17 pages but I get bored real quick
I think the new battery is the M3. I suspect it won't fit as they've changed the way it connects to the motor compared to the M2 - happy to be proved wrong though.

6.5k I think.
Its like trying to sell the Ford Focus chassis for 20 grand ??
Frameset :

£6500

The frame comes with:
  • Float X2 shock and
  • CRANK SET, PRAXIX,
  • 160MM CARBON ARMS ,
  • BCD 104MM SPIDER,
  • AND A SRAM CR EAGLE 34T CHAINRING

Boy .. this thread is going to need a big clean up if it's going to be the main Gen 3 thread ! Either that or we change the name of the thread to Echo ...

Point still stands, it's a lot of money for not a lot of bike ? and it's a Levo, common as muck ?

I think a price discussion is valid indeed, facing the fact that the bikes of the previous 2 years suffered some major design issues with the motor and wiring system.
TBH it is a bold step to call up on such a price hike after all that what was going on with the bikes in the past.

Had my fair share of being stranded in the middle of nowhere because of this little belt inside.

Only my two cents here...

The price of the S-Works is pretty irrelevant, they are always crazy expensive throughout the Spesh range, and not relevant to most of us, they are what they are.

It will be interesting to see what the pricing is of the more basic models when they launch them.

My biggest concern on the pricing would be if they left the range at what was just launched, and didn't bring in some cheaper models.

Did they mention when these are available?

Anyway, the new Levo looks like they slapped a 29er fork on a Kenevo :-D Ok, not really, but it does look similar. As a current Kenevo owner I have no urge to "upgrade". But I do like microtune and new charging port.

But we live on a planet where you can buy a $4000 bamboo fishing rod. A bottle of wine for more than most people will earn in their lives. Cars which cost more than houses or even streets of houses. Watches which cost more than houses or cars. Clothes which cost more than cars. Handbags which cost more than cars or houses. Shoes which cost more than bikes - even these really expensive bikes !

Surely the only time that cost can be discussed to be morally justifiable is when it's for essential things you need to stay alive - but even medicines and operations are unavailable and affordable to many who NEED them ?? I don't see all the Rolex buying people on here off to those forums to complain ? Because we don't care .. We only care about which luxury good we can't afford and want so have to be satisfied with what we can afford - which for most of us, won't be any slower anyway.

Maybe. Another pov is manufacturers gouging in a seller's market, for example. Or the price vs the componentry, R&D investment and so on. Maybe the depreciation curve is fair game. There's more to the debate than desirability dontcha know. Besides, I see you've already booted off a thread along the lines I suggested.

Any independent youtuber that already tested the bike vs gen2 and gen2 Kenevo? I always hear that this is game changer, revolution, totally new bike - but come on this is not a revolution. It's the same motor/batt/kinematics with a Kenevo like frame. If you own a gen2 Kenevo would it be really noticable when you switch? As for hardware why they make new TCU backward compatible and not willing to sell it separately?

I mention this in my video, which I had to re-upload due to an error. I haven't tested this, but my contact says you have to swap the plastic bits at the bottom of the battery to make a battery from the previous Levo work in the new one.

Starts at 06:25
So can it be done the other way to get that fancy waterproofing for a gen2?

Only Spesh will know the answer to this. I can speculate based on my own experiences outside the bike industry, any or all or none could apply in this scenario:

  1. R&D has been focussed on the new model and there's still some integration and testing work for backwards validation.
  2. Supply Chain is unbelievably stretched and they want to guarantee stocks for launch and peak of new products.
  3. Sales see TCU2 as a key selling point and want early adopters to upgrade to 2022 models first.
  4. Aftersales want to avoid a rush of warranty requests for the new TCU (especially if its much more costly)
Don't think it's fair based on history to say that Spesh don't care about current owners. I personally think in time it will be made available.

Anyone know the colour of the frame only option?

And the Expert? Seen this dark red colour, but the Expert usually has two options and presume there's an alternative?

Also, be interesting to see if there's a comp carbon option down the track to bring the price point down.

I don't get all the comments about the price ... ?
Are people not used to Specialized price range?

There will certainly be other cheaper models coming soon. A Levo Comp and Levo Base are surely coming.
True Specialized should have released the full range in one go. At least this forum would not be all about the pricing.

Here is the new one and the "old" one - Yes €500 increase

Hopefuly there won't be much than €500 increase on those 2

Price is a price, but in essence new levo is just a new frame. There would be lots of people willing to buy just the new frame and move motor and the rest of the stuff from the old one. Great idea, but it will never happened.
