Hi mate, I’ve got a rail 5 on order and was wondering if it comes with the display on your bars, or did you add this afterwards? Kevin
Hello dude, had it supplied and fitted, wasn’t expensive, suggest you get the LBS to fit it, it’s informative and super discreet.

That display is really good , the issue I have is the new colour schemes, doesn’t do it for me I’m afraid 😜

To be fair Sliding the seat back can put you too far back for climbing and a longer stem slows the steering down so for me thats a compromise because the frames the wrong size (y)

Theres no doubt they have dropped the ball with the massive jump between M and L on the new models
so it will be the last trek rail i buy for a long time .
To be honest this is not a "new problem" on gen 5 Rail's. The previous Gen 4 with 750wh batteries had the same jump in sizes.

Got a new Rail + 9.8 AXS Gen 5 being built in the shop now. I may have missed it in the forums but is Trek planning on coming out with a new top tube mounted display to replace the current Bosch one? Blanking plate cutout below the controller would certainly suggest that.

The whole industry is rolling out new bikes with that blank plate.

Bosch will most likely come up with a new screen and most of the bikes will already be compatible with it.

Will be interesting to see how much that ends up costing...I'd say most people buying a "Gen 5" bike would be hoping to upgrade to the new rumoured screen when it comes out...but it would have to depend on price, surely?

got my rail+ . Maiden voyage yesterday. Its my first ebike , so trying to get my head around it all . But goes downhill well . Ibe got the XL and feels smaller with the mullet setup. Apart from the useless charge port cover , initial thoughts are good

Edit: from the below link:

"What I remember is that when the door is opened the top of the cover moves back a little to hold the cover open. Then when closing the door holding the bottom gently pull it out and a little sideways and it drops closed. That's what ours do on both our 2022 Trek Rail 5's."

I see all the review embargoes must have expired, as there's lots of videos and write-ups on the new Rail+ popping up all over the place.

First ride today on the Rail + 9.8 GX AXS. Have ridden many older generation Rails and this Bosch Gen 5 motor is the real deal! Smoother power transition and little to no noise. Bike handles exceptionally well even in the Pacific Northwest's winter slop. Was pleasantly surprised by the Bontrager Brevard SE tires but I'm keen to try the new Schwalbe radials, which will be on next week.

That is the exact bike and color I wanted. NICE! Did you end up paying full retail?

Anyone received one of these with what looks like white paint overspray / speckles on the frame?
In all the press releases, the speckled paint on the lower part of the frame is "the design".
Looks like a mistake, to me.

Yeah we just spoke to Trek ... part of the design, like buying ripped jeans! The speckles are proud of the existing paint too, so cheaply done. Bizzare in my opinion. Not my bike, but it will get covered in mud soon enough so shrug

I'm curious if anyone with a Gen 5 has seen any of the battery disconnect issues that have plagued older gens. Really hoping the new RIB design has solved it...

“Plauged” is a bit far fetched. It’s only an issue if your LBS couldn’t setup the RIB correctly.

Never had a battery disconnect in 30 months and 3,500km of riding on my Rail.

Me neither in 3+ years riding 4,000+ miles riding my January 2022 Rail.

If I was inclined to be ungenerous I would suggest that you're talking out of your arse @Dude but since I'm not I won't. 😀

I've had more Rails over the years than I can count, and not ONE battery issue. My Gen 5 seems fine as well, after 1 ride ;)
