I epoxied a couple of thin plastic plates to the battery where the latch mechanism contacts the battery. Had to dremel the plates a bit, but the battery is really tight now and doesn't budge. IMG_6904.jpg

I just bought SC Heckler. Second ride and it was really muddy. Bike was full of mud. It was really hard to clean. Before ride I have put some window seal in motor cover like some recommended in this posts. But it did not help. Inside the cove wires were full of mud, sand and leaves. Is there another way to protect this area. I also added window seal on battery cover and this indeed help to protect water and mud to enter the battery area. Really shame for SC and such expensive bike.

You shouldn't seal anything, those areas are designed so that water can go through. If water stays in, example if you have sealed everything, then problems starts to appear. You can put motofoam to the empty places inside motor so no mud can go there but water goes through...but I wouldn't do even that :)

When I expect to go on a muddy ride I usually just put some powertape on that side of the motor cover/ top and bottom to better seal it/ also on the charging port I will put a patch. On the battery cover I put some window/ rubber seal on the sides but still there is a big gap top and bottom so I ended up adding powertape to top and bottom areas as well, I have those there all the time this way no more dirt or dust will enter , looks like crap especially on the avocado color but at least I got rid of the battery errors and am 3300KMs this year on it.
After muddy rides and washing the bike I have some electric spray contact that will clean those areas you posted... though with the seal and powertape should not have that much dirt inside.

.. Yeah like bndit mentioned water should not stay in, if you can keep it out fine but after a dirtride and bikewash I always take the powertape/cover off and inspect /clean with electric spray if needed

Nice hack on the Headtube, will do something similar as well . Had to clean the headsets too often for the cracking noise and the amount of dirt on there.
Hope something like this will reduce the issue.
Usually the cracking noise that you hear is because the headset preload is set to loose and/or the headset bearings need cleaning and greasing. I always make sure that the headset bearings and the seats on the headtube itself are cleaned and coated with the high end water resistant blue Park grease. That's been my experience anyway.
