Often it is a memory. Riders get a very affordable bike, decide they want to ride a lot, buy a better bike and boom brand x or y or z is great because it is not entry level. I see it on fat bikes. The original tire was so cheap that they love an average tire having never tried better. I never had a problem with RS, Fox and another brand probably because for low price i buy used not entry level. Why do people assume Fox is better than RS? From my experience the mid level RS forks are better than the Fox equivalents, and IMO the Lyric Ultimate shades it over the Fox Factory 36 at the moment too, mainly due to it having the edge on smoothing out trail chatter.
