Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

@Tomash. If you've not yet watched it, you might get something out of this And another great channel overall (Roxy Rides):

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

@Binhill1 - Glad the shorter cranks help - what size did you end up running? I use standard OE 165mm cranks, which are shorter than my non-ebike and they're fine. Were/are you running air or coil? I was 270 lbs. kitted up and switched to coil w/ Ava custom damping tune. I rarely have...

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

@Tomash - I've had my share of falls myself...usually with every new bike I get, e-bike or not! If anything, I'd caution that the more wide, flat, flowy trails can bite you as you'll be going MUCH faster than your brain usually would calculate on your standard analog-bike ride. At least on the...

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

@Binhill1 - See my reply to Labrador29 above... I suspect it's got nothing to do with motor failures. In my experience, what sees to matter most to avoid pedal strikes: Tie for 1 & 2) Technique & Sag, 3) The rest... (geo, crank arm lengths, etc.).

Is falling off a new emtb always going to happen?

@Labrador - Make sure you have your sag set up properly. Gear up with hydration, jackets, etc. when measuring; then even check your sag after a few weeks of riding or double-check your PSI. May drop significantly if you require a lot. I severely underestimated the PSI needed for proper sag on...

    First emtb

@Prime - Congrats on your purchase! I wrecked and tore 3 of my rotator-cuff tendons on my maiden voyage on my YT ebike when I first got out on the trails. You easily underestimate your speed on an emtb and it takes some time to adapt to any new bike. In hindisight, I didn't have my air shock...

    You can ring my bell!

+1 vote for Timberbell. There's not much substitution* for pre-warning in low-visibility sections or fast descents when you don't have time to react and think "oh....I should ring my bell now" + reaction-time of the recipient which takes way-longer than you'd imagine. Caveat on the Timber: I'm...

    E bikes stands

I use this one. Light Aluminum chassis. Sturdy enough. Easy to fold up and lean in a corner when not in use. https://feedbacksports.com/products/ultralight-bike-repair-stand?variant=44214811296042

    PM Adapter frustrations

Indeed the specs seem to be incorrect. Worse still, this review claims it comes with 220mm rotors! Overkill for most folks for street use.... I've reached out to Orbea Support to see if they can verify 1) is it possible to do 180 safely and 2) if so, what adaptor.

    PM Adapter frustrations

@Spangoolies - I'm assuming the mfg. is Orbea...they call it "Orbea Vibe Carbon Fork" on the spec. sheet. I guess I'll try their tech support. I didn't think about fork strength as a limiting factor but I suppose the torque has to come from somewhere.

    PM Adapter frustrations

Magura Caliper adapter needed upgrading from 160 PM on Orbea Vibe I know the Vibe isn't an mtb, but hopefully some of you folks with Magura experience might know the answer. The Vibe is Orbea's urban bike and comes with a post-mount caliper and 160mm Magura rotor. A little weak for my mass...

    Do I need riser bars?

Someone mentioned saddle rake, and I’ve found nose-up really helps keep weight off my bars. Flat seems like I’m sliding off the nose for whatever reason and I’m pushing back in the bars just to stay on saddle. Nose up a bit seems to take that pressure off the bars just enough

OMG ive just spent 4k on a EMTB- Rise user experiences please

No!.... No, you won't miss going walking pace in granny gear up a steep techy trail, or declining an invite to ride from a friend because you "just went yesterday and my knees are blown", nor will you wish you could just "slow-down a little" to turn your magical uphill flow into a standard...

How do e-bike riding techniques change?

Just get out there and book seat time on your e-bike. All basics are the same. Any modern geometry changes are likely to make more of a difference in technique than your motor IMO. Weight: Adds a LOT of stability on the rough descents (vertically as well as rolling momentum). Corollary...all...

    How many chain links?

Yes, I did watch that one but seems to leave a lot up to interpretation. Park is always my go-to for how-to. Shimano too, has a reasonable guide for 12-spd FS that I ran across.

    How many chain links?

@Chrysaor - Thanks for checking! I also wrote to YT Support and they said they ship with 122 links on the Decoy29. I'll probably try that first and see if the tension seems right....can always cut more.

    How many chain links?

Anyone know the # of chain links for 2020 Decoy 29? Rear mech got ripped off clean during my last ride (ouch!). I tried to run single-speed cutting my chain on trail but there wasn't enough tension and pretty much just pushed my 52 lb ebike through and out of the woods, coasting downhill...

    Rise for Clydes?

I was at 330psi on my DPX2 at proper sag. Just wasn't very planted over chatter at all, even w/ compression damping nearly wide open, which led me to move to coil. You say you love the Float X and run the DHX2 on several bikes? What psi are you running on Float X to get 25-30% sag? Do you...
