@BiGJZ74 - I appreciate your chiming in since I started this thread with you in mind specifically. :) I'm noticing that you replaced both ends of your Rise's suspension. In particular, I'm curious if you tried working with the Fox Float X, or if you immediately went over to the DHX2 coil? I...
Other than @BiGJZ74, who of you Rise owners out there are 250lbs+ riders? I'd love to hear from you if you feel the 60Nm EP8RS is up to task for you on steep punchy climbs. Especially if you have FF motor experience. I'm not worried about range and I'm typically carrying around 25-30% extra...
Lol...yeah, I've crashed on my last 2 new bikes E or not (YT Jeffsy29 and YT Decoy29). You'll get used to the bike soon!
Jeffsy (analog) crash was typical - new toy thinking "I'm gonna crush it on this thing" and overrunning (ignoring?) the damp poor-traction I had that morning starting...
@Paulcon - My bike came stock w/ SRAM Code RSC 200F/200R. At my hefty rider weight, I didn't feel the brakes were up to task and upgraded Fronts-only to 220mm rotors. Same SRAM design, no other mods and it made a HUGE difference in power (leverage ratio of +20mm is significant). For me...
I have Decoy 29 Pro (not Elite) and converted from DPX2 to Bomber CR with Avalanche tune rear coil (650# spring). I could never get the DPX2 to feel right. At 330-335 psi just to get sag right, there was little left in terms of ride quality.
Even the bone-stock Bomber CR was a major...
Congratulations!!! Be happy to have a bike under your seat...many are waiting still. And a fantastic one at that.
The above pricing was in USD, sorry didn't specify I should on this forum.
My wife just received her M10 last month and loves it!
1. Will it be worth it changing my Levo to the Orbea?
* Can't comment on this first-hand experience, but there is very little in the Levo SLs favor over the Orbea on paper. Orbea has more modern geo and way better components value for...
@crencos - Wait....so do you need both parts then? i.e. REF. X1600000 + REF X2030000?
If so, that brings the cost a little more in line with what you see for sale on other sites. (like North Shore's one)
UPDATE:
Ended up getting a Smashpot 65# conversion for the OE Fox 36E fork. At the same time, got it completely serviced with new slick seals, lube, etc. At the same time, I asked them to go up to 160mm from stock 150mm. YT recommends against more than that on the 29er and I'd agree.
I'm...
Bummer - not surprising though. No emergency, we don't even have the bike yet. I just like having one in-hand with any new bike to avoid down-time. Cheap insurance.
I've had Specialized dealers using fear-tactics to steer me aware from Orbea, especially warranty issues, replacement parts...
Anyone with the Rise M10:
Do the E*13 cranks already come with the crank-arm protector 'boots'?
E*13's page shows pics with and without boots....a bit indeterminate.
That would be swell if E*13 cranks already ship with booty.
<queue Sir Mixalot>
That looks totally different from the one on Orbea's website:
JensonUSA (USA Rise distributor) sent me here for hanger: DERAILLEUR HANGER STD X12 FS 21 7075
Curiously, I can't seem to add it to my cart...some website glitch.
Has anyone with a Rise bought a spare DHanger?
@Jilleride45 - Thanks for doing some digging. I've talked to at least 2 LBSs here about XS, and they said no, but I haven't pushed on the Alu model. Let me see what I can find out. They're also saying Feb or later 2022, which didn't help.
We have an Orbea Rise M10 (Small) on order, which in...
@albort1 - I agree 100% the S1(XS) size would be perfect for her. For some reason, it's not orderable here in the USA. So very strange given you have to order the thing anyway. I've asked a few shops already and seems both Levo and Levo SL (which is what she wants) are limited to S2 (Small)...
@albort1 - 750mm isn't awful vs. her 730mm inseam is with biking shoes. 20mm delta for sure means no clearance unless she's tippy-toed, and still may not be comfortable on-trail in a foot-down situation. Wife is trying to get the right bike out of the gate, keeping mods to a minimum if...
@boBE - how frustrating this lack of clarity seems around their stated spec. I guess that's why a lot of reviews do their own measurements, not just copied verbatim from mfg. website.
I don't know of any local shops with a Levo SL Small size where we can actually measure the standover. Maybe...
FF Levo is 760mm so that's 50mm to make up on your tip-toes. My wife would have 57mm to make up...hmmm. But I know she freaks in some techy sections and would want to get a foot down quickly (flat pedals have helped) so maybe not a good start if she's got almost 60mm of bar to clear.
Can anyone with a Levo SL (Small) provide some physical measurements of their standover? Maybe at the seat-tube junction and front of the saddle horn? Hearing some differences of opinion on this number. No LBS has a small in stock for IRL measurements.
Spesh's website spec of 787mm...
@TorAtle - how tall is your GF? My wife has a Small Rise M10 on order and we're considering a small Levo SL as well, but that 787mm standover height spec seems enormous vs. 710mm on the Rise.
My wife is 5'0" even. Inseam is about 730mm in biking shoes with feet comfortably apart. Seems...
@ziscwg - According to Steve @Vorsprung via email, you *can* use the Smashpot in the Fox 36E+ version (at least code DYZ6) up to a certain spring rate (65 I believe). The higher spring rates above 65 are larger diameter and don't always fit.
I've ordered mine in a 65# and haven't installed...
