If it makes sense for you, that's all that matters. Me, I'm full/full. More is more. Stronger motor dismisses extra 1 kg going up, adds stability and speed carry going down and cross country, dismisses range anxiety all together. Nice to have choices.
I was simply responding to an inquiry for feedback in the real world, having been present on different occasions when three friends, two on the Orbed Rise, complained about their range extenders not working. A small battery plus a range extender is ridiculously close to the same weight as one...
I would check on MTB Project or Trailforks ahead of time to see the best route to meet your pals. I never did that because they left so much earlier, but I remember crossing the bridge over Butcher Creek (bit of a landmark) I think it's called, and eventually coming down 3rd divide. Local bike...
I just noticed your from NZ. Cool. I spent 3 months there in 2018 and love it. No mt. biking, but trekked my butt off and got a full shot of both islands ridding 15,000k's a KLR 650, bought new upon arrival, sold upon departure. Worked out flawlessly.
Plummet, my brother, I truly appreciate gaining your perspective and find no fault with your logic. Rather I'm glad our varied perspectives lead us both to positive interaction, experiences and results. Guess you could say you've slackened my head angle a tad.
Happy and not surprised you love your Trek. I suppose I would as well if I owned one, as there are so many good bikes these days. If we had one of each we probably would need to spin the bottle to choose on any given day.
In my experience bars are the single best place to go carbon, hands down. I feel modern suspension substitutes most absorption benefits of carbon frames and wheels, wherby carbon bars made immediately significant improvements. Bang for buck king in carbon world
Yup. Both wheel set ups have stronger and weaker characteristics and I'm glad I own both. I guess frames allowing 29er or Mullet rear wheels might be the best single bike choice.
Following, I don't notice a difference in general climbing on the Mullet, just where slow techie uphill single track is involved. The reduction in circumference provides more clearance and less pulling up and over effort me thinks.
My two cents. I own a 2020 full 29er and a 2022 Mullet. If I could have only one it would be full 29er. Yes, the mullet excels slightly in tight switchbacks and climbing technical single track where up and overs come into play, but I'm still able to manage both with very little increase in...
I've never ridden the Rail, but two seasoned MTB Rider friends of mine just returned from Europe where they rented a Trek Rail in one location, a Turbo Levo in another, and a Pivot is yet another. Both commented they did not like the Trek Rail compared to the other two. I think Trek may also...
Funny you should ask. On my 3rd visit to Downieville I was unwilling to get up early to join my buds on a shuttle run, so with no other choice, I started riding up 2nd Divide a couple hours later, after a leisurely breakfast, and found it less taxing than several rides I do regularly at home...
Making life more difficult and less logical has been a government trait since inception. I agree Manufacturers and Engineers are adding to this stupidity by supporting restriction with monitoring software in order to what - void your warranty more easily? In the world of fast cars, motorcycles...
Boost/Turbo. I think top power modes aren't well understood, or properly utilized by restricted thinking that they're just for steep climbs. I find most riding challenges are easier and more rewarding in the high power settings. The trick is to take it easy, pedal gingerly and be in the right...
The video I recently watched on DJI, their new MTB motor and related components has taken over 1st place on my Gimme One List. What would you rather take on a Saturday afternoon drive in the country, VW Beatle or Porsche Carrera? I'm glad to finally see the Industry further embracing higher...
I almost mentioned picking the bike up as the only negative as far as I'm concerned, but figured it was too obvious. For me, a small price to pay to avoid range anxiety and reduced power, given smaller batteries invariably come on bikes with smaller power output. The SL for example, as Spec...
To each his own, but several of my friends riding very popular brands have had issues with range extender electrical connections and power transfer being reliable. Personally I feel the weight of E-bikes is a positive, especially on full power bikes adding to stability, tracking prowess...
