But they are a pain in the rear to get on the rim….had to send mine back. Just would not stretch. Tried heating it soaping it….had one in the past that went on easier (onto the same rim) and loved it.
You can probably find a service manual for your exact bike by googling it or maybe somebody posted it on a forum already. It will have all the torque specs. The motor bolts on my bike (a trek fuel exe 9.8) are torqued to 50nm so 20 may be low actually. It’s also a carbon frame. If the motor has...
I am living with it. Got my first bike in Oct 22 and i asked Trek to replace the motor before the warranty ran out. Since the frame had a warranty issue, they gave me a new bike which they had in stock and was built a year earlier with my original bike. The second motor also has the same...
There was talk about a second generation motor which may have addressed some of the older issues. Other than the motor and the locking loosening over time, I haven’t had any issues so far with my 9.8XT. The weight gain of the 24 9.8 XT comes mostly from the heavier tires, I believe. They use...
I dont do anything with the motor but I would recommend to check torque on the lockring periodically as it has come lose on me and when it does it starts making a clicking sound. I also read that some people have issues with cranks coming lose. I pay attention to battery maintenance. When it’s...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a small tool bag that attaches to the existing water bottle mounts and therefore won’t scratch the frame? Looking for something small (tube, CO2, levers, etc).
thanks in advance!
I have a 2022 9.8 XT and have had the lock ring come lose on me over time. I can replicate the clicking noise at a standstill just by pushing down on the cranks. Tightening them back to 50nm has always resolved the issue when I had it.
had an error code 49E indicating a torque sensor failure when I tried to start a ride. The bike shop updated the firmware on the motor and the issue went away. On this latest firmware version, the bike has never felt better. Much smoother power delivery. I wonder if there was an issue with the...
I also had the Al cranks on my bike Oct 22. once I saw it and notified the trek shop, they offered to replace them with carbon cranks when available or give me $300 store credit. I chose the latter since I don’t mind the Al cranks. They should withstand rock hits better and they are also...
I have never seen this happen. Like you I also skip charging if I have enough battery left after a ride. I often use about 40% or 60% of the battery depending on the trails I ride. If I have 60% left, I often leave it for the next ride. That means I go below 20% pretty often But I have never...
most about charging best practices has been mentioned here but I like to add one more aspect that may or may not be related to the stated issue. Temperature can have an impact as well. If the battery balances, it may lose charge when not plugged in. Keeping the battery exposed to low temps in...
I think this is spot on for the bike. Regarding Teslas, it depends on the battery chemistry. The older more energy dense batteries that contain Co and Mn should not be charged to 100% on a regular basis but the more recent LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries can be charged to 100% without any...
I put the bike in the stand and position the height so the the fork rests on a rug on the floor when out of the headset without putting much Weight on the cables.
I also have the 9.8XT and it is a great package indeed. I changed out the grips for Ergo grips and switched the rear tire to a continental Kryptotal 2.4 in the back. I blew out the SE5 tire a couple times and was looking for something with a stronger sidewall. Really liked the Kryptotal.
It’s the quietest bike I have ridden. That doesn’t mean it’s silent. At higher cadence, one can definitely hear the motor but at lower support it’s not very noticable. cables are pretty silent. battery is inside the frame and well guided. No noise from there at all.
