I have a real problem when encountering runners on shared paths using headphones and unable to hear bikes approaching. With this in mind I never use headphones when riding.

Problem is getting the bike you set you mind on from a local LBS. I own an Orbed Rise and when i was in the market for one they were very difficult to get hold of. i ended up buying from an LBS that is about 3 hours away as well but since i do most of my own maintenance, i only visited once...

The EM800 does indeed have spare SD300 ports. The only other place you will find a spare port is on the motor. There is a Y-cable you can purchase that will enable a connection using the EN100. However, it is just as easy to connect to the motor directly.

Rothwild which used the same chainring has recalled all of their bikes and replacing it with the Shimano version. Perhaps its time Orbea does the same.

Future firmware updates will not be a problem and you will retain the changes made to speed. However, would recommend you undo these changes if taking you bike into an LBS for service.
