I know this is a bit of a thread revival but I suspect more and more people will be stumbling onto this issue in the coming future. I just dealt with it myself so hopefully more people can find this thread.
If you look through the manuals for the Shimano EP8 system it mentions nothing of this...
Holy hell how sad. Sam seems like the nicest guy and he definitely deserves all the sponsors he gets... they're in there calling him a sellout. Not to mention he is a 10x better rider than most people will ever be, these people have no leg to stand on. sheesh
Pretty interesting results considering the bikes it is compared against price wise.

There really are no super compelling reasons for not allowing class 1s on any trails IMO I 100% agree (minus one small potential issue I could see happening, I will address this in a bit). It is this blind ignorance or simple misinformation that is so ingrained into the mentality of those who...
I don't know if it works the same way or not. But several years ago I ordered several Eth miners from China and UPS delivered them and UPS left me a bill for a customs/ import duty afterwards for several hundred dollars. They called me once demanding payment, I just never paid the thing and I...
I know you didn't specify if you rode your ebike in Sedona, but if you did you're a brave man. I try to drive up there from Tucson every couple months for riding but I wouldn't even dare bring my ebike into the town of Sedona. They absolutely despise ebikes there, talking to locals you would...
It seems to me one of the major pluses of buying from a brand such as Specialized or Santa Cruz would be the local dealer support. If this means nothing to you, or your local shops aren't a great experience than a direct to consumer bike company such as Commencal can seem more appealing. Not to...
I would start with the easiest thing, you've probably already checked it but it doesn't hurt to check for sure. The connector under the plastic cover on the motor I think on the left side of the bike... it should click in with a solid CLICK. There was another guy on here I believe that was...
I don't know if it would help but I thought my linkage was creaking and it ended up being the dropper post where it inserts into the frame had dust in there causing the noise. It comes back after a couple weeks of riding then I have to clean it again.
I've been a long time Diamondback user (weight is the last thing on the minds of their designers) and its nice that Commencal is the same in the weight department lol. I am glad weight has never been a huge deal for me for bikes... I mean it would be much more practical for me just to lose...
Nice bike! I hope you're aware of the crank issue by now, if not make sure you do the updated torque procedure. Not to sound like a broken record on this but I'd hate to see any more people get hurt because of this.
These Commencal e-bikes are indeed heavy, but that lets them rip through nasty...
I've done a few little things to mine so far but nothing major. The biggest thing I want to do still is install the drop in fork upgrade that people say is the shit.
But so far I've changed the bars, grips, pedals, added a saddlebag, tube strap, fidlock bottle, Granite in bike tools for the...
As said earlier, the older shimano motor works really well. I actually got a chance to ride on one and honestly I had a hard time telling the difference. It seemed louder, but that was the only apparent thing. If you can get a good price on an earlier model bike then go for it.
Also, what you...
