Hey all,
I've got a Cannondale Moterra 3 2020 model. Bosch power tube 500Wh battery. I'm starting to notice the key which lets you pop the battery in and out of the tube is getting really sticky. As in it's really hard to get the key both in and out. I'm suspecting rust inside the barrel...
I just went and looked at the bike and, yes, there is definitely space to put a bigger battery in the tube. It's got a spacer which is bolted into the frame. The spacer seems to have all the wires and contacts running through it, so not just a lump of plastic. Possibly something I would ask...
I believe the 2021 model of my bike has the 625 battery and I know the shop I bought it from told me the 625 would fit, but that was before I found out the 625 was bigger. Maybe there is a spacer inside the tube. Interesting! I'm going to go and ask again...
Glorious lunchtime in Sussex today.
Top of Streat Hill with Ditchling Beacon in the distance.
Cheeky little downhill off the South Downs known as "Jumps".
I rode it home (about 5 miles) from when I noticed the wobbly chain ring; which I noted because the chain fell off. And it was fine the day before as I gave the bike a general look over. So it went from firm and working fine to wobbling hugely (see the video) in one ride of about 10 miles...
Ouch! :)
Well, I am not going to claim to be a pro rider but I'd like to think I'm sensible enough to change gears when not under tension as much as possible. A lot of my riding is on flat forest trails, so yes I am using the top three cogs almost exclusively which I'm sure will wear them...
This is my first eMTB but I've had thousands and thousands of miles on previous bikes without ever replacing a chainring and very rarely having to replace a chain.
Is this just a case of the extra wear of an eMTB or have I been unlucky?
Also, the bike had a terribly wobbly front chain ring (just fixed, not ridden since; see this post on another thread for video). Would you guys feel that would have contributed to the chain and chainring wear?
Thanks for any advice!
