    Rear hub bearings - source?

I'm pretty sure the bearings on my VR (2019, 600ish KM) are knackered. The disc side feels gritty, there's a ticking noise under pedal load coming from that area. Boost mode also doesn't feel as pokey, and I'm sure I'm not imagining a sensation of increased drag. So I'm going to try and...

    Show us your Vitus!

I put the original (almost 1 year old) DHF / HR2 tyres back on yesterday. I've been running Magic Marys since November. The maxxis tyres are amazing on the dusty forest floor!

    Show us your Vitus!

In other news, I now own my Vitus E-sommet VR outright. Paid the finance off. I had to do something to make me feel better after cancelling my Tesla Model 3 order.

I'm convinced I had it 3 weeks before lockdown. Nasty sore throat, sudden fatigue, and hot 'flushes'. Then two days later breathing was uncomfortable, especially in the evenings. That lasted over a week. Then the tight chest and breathlessness persisted and has only recently eased. My aerobic...

    Pedal strikes

Just thought I'd update the thread. Having ridden a lot since posting this a year ago, I'm happy to report that (albeit with a different bike) pedal strikes are a thing of the past, pretty much. For the past 3 weeks I've been riding my local forest trails almost daily. I'm now very comfortable...

    E-Sommet: 2 Years On

I reckon shimano might put out a lighter replacement battery (less capacity, much less weight) to follow the lighter-is-better trend. And it'll be an easy swap.

    E-Sommet: 2 Years On

Love this write up. I plan on keeping my E-Sommet VR for a long time. It'll take a lot of riding before I can ever honestly say 'this bike limits me'. The only real niggles are the aforementioned motor crud trap, and the dropper post cable, which took a lot of fettling and a wolftooth lever...

    E Sommet or not

Buy one. Be smug. I ended up with a small after reading Gary's posts (And it was the only size in stock). I haven't regretted it, even though I'm 5'10. It's lively involving, and rewarding. I have a 2017 cube hpa hardtail for a commuter in 19" (medium large?) and the wheelbase looks almost...

    Spank oozy vibrocore 760mm

I had the chance to try these bars out tonight at BPW (night session). I wasn't expecting to be blown away. But I was. For the first 3 runs I had absolutely no arm pump whatsoever. And I was pushing. Compared to the OE nukeproof bars it was like someone had given me a front end made of butter...

    Let's see your cubes

Maxxis hookworms. I was going to go down the skinny commuting tyre route, but I spotted those & thought they looked hilarious. 2.5 wide. 48 hr turnaround from Germany! Maxxis Hookworm 29x2.50" MaxxPro 60 Wire | MTB Tyres 29" - non-folding Shop

Yeah. I was properly lazy. If I'd had more time. I'd have pedalled up a few times. The most times I've pedalled up is 3. Left with 2 bars.

400+ KMs covered. Still can't imagine swapping. It was amazing at BPW last Wednesday.

Glad I listened to the users here!

I've had my VR for almost 7 weeks now. I was 'lucky' enough to get laid off from my old job within a few days of the purchase, so I've had plenty of time to ride - just over 215km showing so far. The only problems I've hit (apart from the paint finish) have been the battery disconnecting -...

    2.8in Tyres on the E-Sommet?

My VR is the sharpest handling bike I've ever ridden. Having owned a bike with 2.8 tyres, I can't imagine why anyone would swap to those from the stock tyres, apart from aesthetics.

Unanswered Are PLUS wheels just for show?

I had a Jam2 with 2.8 tyres. I thought it was the bees knees. Then again, I was comparing it to old 2.1" ish tyres on my 2008 boardman hardtail. I liked the way they handled, especially the 'float' in corners. Having gone to 2.5s on a Vitus E-sommet VR though, it's astounding how different...

second proper clean, paintwork is awful!

I should add, after the 4th proper ride, that the bike itself is just awesome ?

I use the no bucket method ? Muc-off, then agitation with a clean brush, then hose. It might be too late for invisiframe...

second proper clean, paintwork is awful!

By contrast, the paint on my Jam2 is still absolutely outstanding after many washes. Guess I'm just too precious ?
