I bought and measured the sram pads. confirmed that overall they are the same thickness as the Ubers at 3.8mm.
Interestingly the pad material on the sram pad is 1mm thinner and the backing plate 1mm thicker. I wonder if this may provide shorter life, but better cooling? The backing plate metal...
Tricky thing is that after an off we are chastened and say we're going to stick with what we know and enjoy, but just when you thought you'd got out.......reality is; we always gradually return into the non-comfort zone, usually because we are with better or more courageous mates as some point...
Fascinating vid. You were courageous going for it given what you said of your confidence levels on the day.
Don't have enough knowledge/experience to comment on the technical element of the crash, I wonder how much fatigue comes into play.
I had the impression you were struggling with the line...
Thanks Mikerb
I've no problem to do the mechanical work, but a bit strapped for time at the mo. Busy prepping for a cycle tour with my son next week.
The bike is only 9 months old, so I don't think it should be an age/wear issue. more likely that the system was a bit over-filled from the start...
no the pistons aren't flush when retracted. I haven't touched the system since new last September. Maybe have to let out a little fluid. They've been so good with the sram oem pads that I am reluctant to disturb the system until there is another reason to do so. The rotors are sram oem came with...
I've been using the OEM SRAM pads for the first few changes with my SRAM Guide REs. Just bought Uber for the first time to try them and no matter how much I try and push the pistons back in there remains insufficient space for the rotor to go between the pads. The pads are noticeably thicker...
only done a couple of rides since. actually had the Bosch motor fail. It was replaced within a week by LBS and Bosch, so no big deal, but I also bought an E-gravel bike for an up-coming tour, which is taking a bit of time.
The two rides since have confirmed the MegNeg as a good upgrade. I...
bike stopped working on the Monday - dead - nothing showing on the display at all.
Took it to Ace in Monmouth on Tuesday. They called Bosch and both agreed it was a motor failure.
Wednesday Ace sent the motor to Bosch
Thursday Bosch sent a new replacement to Ace.
Friday Ace fitted the motor.

try decathlon B Twin bib. They seem to make things for the ermmmm larger gent - you'd need XXL. Most other brands seem to cater to racing snakes. I have two sets - best quality version and med quality version - the med quality actually seem better and price is v reasonable.
I'd also slap some...
850 miles here. Been fantastic until couple of days ago. Did one loop, stopped in the car park for a coffee and bike (E160 Bosch Gen 4) wouldn't turn back on ie blank screen. Took it to LBS who on investigation and discussion with Bosch say the motor has failed. waiting for warranty replacement...
I also got more pedal strikes on my EMTB. My Whyte is meant to be long low slack etc..... but the increase in strikes did concern me. I am clearly going much faster on the flat and when climbing ie when pedalling and wonder if the extra speed and acceleration come into play.
I swapped to the...
I installed the megneg yesterday. The installation was straight-forward. Anyone who can do a can service would manage it no problem. It was also an opportunity to regrease the piston and renew the oil in the can.
As suggested by Clubby I removed one of the 3 positive tokens, so have ended up...
so my last question was obviously so dumb that nobody responded!
Megneg arrived today. I am worried because I am a heavy rider 100Kg fully loaded. Going to start with maintaining the 3 positive spcaers and add the Megneg with 2 negative spacersn (e160). Unless anyone tells me I am bonkaZ.
In all...
Any update after the weekend? Very interested to find how it went after rattling my way round Afan today.
Is the progressive spring enough to keep things playful?
