I used a plastic strap wrench with a rubber strap bought at a local hardware store. The collar was really tight but a hard enough tug finally broke it loose. It unscrewed by hand the rest of the way.
Btw, you can also use the strap wrench to unscrew the rear shock can for service.
I’ve seen an uptick in riders sporting ff helmets for trail duty over the last couple of years. Maybe one day the open facers are gonna be the dorks. :p
Looks can be deceiving with lots going on under the shell. TLD Stage meets a stringent downhill standard. Possibly other lightweight ff models do too. ASTM's Downhill Mountain Bike Racing helmet standard
Heard too many horror stories so bought a TLD Stage last year. Now I rarely wear my open face, even for the easy stuff and in hot weather. IMHO the latest gen of lightweight breathable ff helmets is the way to go. Perfect match for an ebike since you can keep your speed up when climbing for...
What’s the weather like in the coming months? Consider waiting If the bike won’t be ridden much. On the other hand if you just gotta have it (I don’t blame you :)) and have the $$ to upgrade as needed I say go for it.
Maybe hold off on the 700 wh battery until you see how far the 500 takes...
I prefer the SRAM PC XX1 11 speed chain. The hard chrome plating seems to hold up better to the cheaper non-plated alternatives. You did say “price isn’t really important”:)

The section regarding dropper post installation says "carefully clamp bike on top tube at seat tube junction". I've been doing this since day one on my aluminum comp but...
Read through PenSki’s post on rib injuries and decided to do the same for shoulders.

Went otb a couple of weeks ago separating my left shoulder (AC). Doc says if not grade 3 its close. Probably fractured a side rib from...
My buddy’s motor was replaced on his ‘20 Levo and the firmware was updated to the latest. Is it normal for the odometer to be reset to zero? What about a new battery? Or TCU?
Like I said, I have a fair amount of trouble-free miles on mine even though I sometimes turn the motor backwards with the battery plugged in. Be careful you don’t hit the connector with the crank if unplugged. Heck, I can see a greater chance of damaging the connector and wiring than any harm...
Yes, logging out/in was the key for me when they first released MC with in-app updates . I didn’t need to again to see 7.3.6 is available but we’ll have to visit a retailer for it.
If the bike turns on I take it as a sign I’m spinning too fast ?. I stop and power off then keep going but with less vigor. Like I said, 3100 miles without incident so prolly no big deal in the grand scheme of things.
I haven’t seen a definitive answer to both why the motor turns on and does spinning backwards cause harm.
Chain cleaners with a reservoir only work spinning backwards afaik. Since this might be harmful I use mine sparingly for deep cleaning and keep the rpm low. In between I use a chain brush...
