Levo SL Gen 1 The Reason for delay in 2023 Levo SL...(and various other discussions on lightweight bikes......)

The whine is annoying, not so bad on gravel/crushed surfaces but on smooth dirt or paved it is easy to hear. :( Helical gears are one answer but they add an axial load to the gears, the SL motor housing and bearings are probably not made to handle the load.

What 27.5" front and rear wheeled bikes are available now and possibly 2023?

It lowers the bottom bracket about 19 mm and changes the trail slightly, a pro rider could probably tell the difference but I can't.

What 27.5" front and rear wheeled bikes are available now and possibly 2023?

I changed my Levo SL to 27.5", found some nice wheels on sale and had my LBS reset the wheel diameter to keep the 20 mph assist limit. Much happier with these than the original 29s.

Levo SL Gen 1 The Reason for delay in 2023 Levo SL...(and various other discussions on lightweight bikes......)

Well, I did drive Corvairs for many years and liked them too. ;) Mandatory bicycle content: one of the Corvairs had a bike rack on it.

Levo SL Gen 1 The Reason for delay in 2023 Levo SL...(and various other discussions on lightweight bikes......)

Specialized's US website shows full price for the Levo SL with limited models/colors/sizes available. I understand it is the worst bike ever (I like mine) with the crappiest geometry (mine is good) and a useless motor (mine has enough power) and every other bike is better (I still like mine) so...

Levo SL Gen 1 The Reason for delay in 2023 Levo SL...(and various other discussions on lightweight bikes......)

<Yoda> Begun, these torque wars have... /<Yoda> The marketers have thrown around torque ratings to entice those who don't know any better, like the horsepower wars of the 60s. *Torque does not equal power*! Torque times rpm equals power and a 240 watt motor with 45 NM will produce the same...

Didn't see this posted, an article today from Associated Press titled " Debate intensifies on how much trail access to give e-bikes" https://apnews.com/article/technology-sports-colorado-iowa-springs-89f9966c2b082980a085cdf41c1cd555

Levo SL Gen 1 Peter Sagan on (and off) a Levo SL

My mistake, I figured since the rules limited the motor to 250 watts and 25 kmh that there was no reason to go full fat and its weight penalty.

Levo Gen 3 Seal near crank arm

Looks like the rubber has popped out of the metal retainer. Probably have to remove some parts to get a better look but I would guess the seal has to be replaced or water is going to get in.

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

Brushless (and brushed) motor efficiency varies according to the torque and rpm, peak efficiency is often at mid-high rpm and low torque. If we power up a hill at low rpm and ask for a lot of torque our 80% efficiency may drop to half that. Your 330 W of battery power may still be producing...

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

Even the FF Specialized bikes are shown as 250 W nominal, which I recall means they are limited to that much average power over a one hour period (probably due to heat dissipation). We know that a FF can do maybe twice that for a short time. 80% efficient is good, not likely any motor will do...

The State of eMTB in USA

Florida state law classifies most e-bikes as bicycles, period. Even our 300' high mountain is accessible to e-bikes. ;)

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo sl diet?..

The trails I ride are pretty flat with no rocks so the original fork/suspension is fine for me. I ditched the 29" wheels for 27.5 and some light tires, that alone saved over a kg. Then I added two water bottles (90 degrees with 90% humidity is common here) and got all the weight back again. ;)

Levo Gen 3 Changing 50T to 60T on Como (probably applies to Levo, Kenevo, Vado)

Good question, electricbikereview has a forum for Comos and Vados, the MTBs still get most of the attention. We have a Como (chain drive), the gearing is ok for our speeds. ;)

Levo Gen 3 Changing 50T to 60T on Como (probably applies to Levo, Kenevo, Vado)

Interesting that a shop offers an adapter, there must be some demand for it. It probably does not apply to MTBs as the chainrings on those tend to be small and afaik none use belt drive. Your work reinforces the mantra "everything must be modified". ;)

Levo Gen 3 what hubs on Gen 3 Levo expert / able to change free hub?

Someone on this forum switched to Shimano and had to change *everything* including the chainring. I changed from SRAM 12 speed to 11 speed and only had to change *almost* everything (Levo SL). ;) It does shift better.

For magnets K and J Magnetics (kjmagnetics.com) has just about any size/shape of neo magnets we might want. Some of the countersunk ones are likely candidates for speed sensor applications.
