    Mullet v 29er

I prefer 29" front and rear so I only have to carry one spare tube, the derailleur is slightly higher from obstacles and the bigger diameter rolls a little smoother. I run tubeless but still carry a tube in case of a big tyre cut.

Review Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Chain

Keep in mind that an angle grinder will make short work of any chain. If your bike is on the street I'd consider incorporating one of the new compound metal locks like the Litelock X1 - having to change grinder discs a few times is a big deterrent.

Could do with some help picking a bike!

I like the feel of a lighter weight bike in general (I weigh 65kg) but more power is always nice going uphill, especially if you're doing long, steep uphills. Since you're 90kg anyway I'd lean towards full fat.

Could do with some help picking a bike!

The long wheelbase and slack head angle of the Kenevo should put it ahead of, for example, the Rise which I own and probably most other bikes.

Australia is so well made it doesn't need a warranty :)

    Warranty Australia

When a manufacturer must repay a business Some problems with products may be the fault of the manufacturer, rather than the fault of the business who sold the product to consumers. For example, if the problem with the product is: caused by a manufacturing defect that the product doesn’t meet...

    Warranty Australia

As I understand consumer law in Australia, you are entitled to a new motor free of charge or a full refund on the bike. That said I'd probably work with the shop to arrive at a mutually agreeable outcome, especially if they aren't a large chain store. How many km's on the motor?

    SRAM Vs Shimano

On the other hand, Shimano doesn't need an answer for it since their cable setups work very nicely. I've got AXS on the Cube with SRAM drivetrain because I got sick of constantly fiddling with the gears to get all of them running smoothly. The Shimano 12 speed on the Rise H30 works so well I...

Is my bike to small? Need advice. Rise L 6'1 90kg

I like that explanation, helps me get my head around the differences between my bikes. I've found I need to get my bum farther back off the seat on steep descents on the Rise H30 to avoid the over-the-handlebars feeling.

    Tow ball bike rack

This is an old photo showing 2.6" Smart Sams on the bike; knobby tyres are slightly wider but they still fit ok - got DHR 2.6 on the back now and DHF 2.5 on the front. The medium Cube Stereo has a ~1225mm wheelbase and I wouldn't want to go much longer on this rack, but it works just fine for...

    Tow ball bike rack

I use a Thule Euroway G2 and 2.6" tyres work ok, even though it's made for 2.4" tyres. The Velocompact looks stronger so you shouldn't have any problem with 2.6" tyres. Definitely get a 3 bike version for carrying 2 bikes - makes it much easier to load the bikes. The Thule towball mount is the...

    More power to motor

I bought a 2022 H30 Rise and the dealer changed the firmware to EP8 85nm at my request, all with permission from Shimano. You should able to get the firmware changed at a Shimano dealer. Some dealers may not be aware that they can do this but it is common practice afaik.

    Let's see your cubes

If you carry a multi-tool with a chain breaker you can rejoin a broken chain in a few minutes. Carry a spare joining link and the job is super easy: how to join a bike chain - Google Search

What EMTB would you get for 5k?

First I've heard of the new style mudguard - that'll consign the MK1 to history. I've been joining bits of old guard onto my version 1.

1st emtb, down to 2 choices Orbea Wild or S turbo Levo

You should also be able to get a dealer discount on the Levo on top of the manufacturer special - ask if they can make it worth your while staying with the older Levo vs going for the new Wild?

1st emtb, down to 2 choices Orbea Wild or S turbo Levo

I'd lean towards the Wild for the reliability of the Bosch CX and I like Shimano gears better. The Sram gears are fine once you add a GX AXS upgrade kit but Shimano will work just as well without it. Difficult choice between the bikes though.

What EMTB would you get for 5k?

With a 5500 pound budget and discounts all over the place you're spoilt for choice. I suggest you buy whatever is the best value with the suspension and motor that you want, then keep some powder dry for that fantastic 40% off deal you're going to spot sometime over the next 12 months.

    Best orbea rise light tyre

The Maxxis Dissector 29x2.4 Exo dual compound or 3c Maxterra are both about 950 grams. Exo is plenty strong unless you're riding on jagged rocks.

Cheap Suntour coil fork upgrade to ROCKSHOX 35 GOLD RL, worth it?

If you want to keep the bike grab that deal since it's a cheap upgrade (definitely an upgrade over worn XCM forks) . The alternative would be to put the money towards a dual suspension bike instead - depends on your priorities. I just bought a new Orbea Rise for my wife since she only has a...

Cheap Suntour coil fork upgrade to ROCKSHOX 35 GOLD RL, worth it?

You don't need anything fancy for city and easy trails. Anything from Recon silver upwards will do the job. If you can pay a little more to jump to the next level of fork go for that.
