Oils attract dirt and the chain and sprockets turn into a gunky mess. I switched to Rock n Roll wax products and the drive train stays clean and my chain seems to be lasting well.
My Cubes came with a blue strip over the spoke holes to protect the tube but it's not tape. You need to remove that and apply proper tubeless tape.
Some tubeless tapes are easier to apply than others too - the best I've used so far is e-thirteen; it's flexible and sticky. The worst I've used is...
Had my first decent ride today on the new Rise H30 (with 85nm firmware). On very steep hills the power does feel less than my Bosch CX 4 powered Cube Stereo, but I'm still able to doddle easily up the hill provided I pick the right gear; the Shimano motor seems more sensitive to being in the...
The Stereo 120 is a great bike - powerful and reliable motor, dual suspension, relaxed riding position, just an easy to live with bike when you're not into jumping, etc.
My new Rise H30 arrived and the app is showing 85nm as the maximum torque - I've bumped everything to max in boost mode but haven't been out to the trails yet. The weight as delivered and with pedals added is 20.6kg, about 5kg less than my Cube Stereo 120.
I don't know the details, but I assume changing to EP8 firmware includes all the values that would normally be applied to the EP8 motor. Shimano warns that the battery will drain more quickly but that's to be expected. Apparently Shimano has facilitated the firmware change on quite a few RS motors.
I've just ordered a new 2022 Rise H30 at clearance pricing and the shop changed the firmware to standard EP8 85nm upon my request. Range isn't an issue for me so I'm glad I saw this thread.
While pedaling uphill on either of our current bikes I can't feel much power difference between the two...
Whichever bike you choose, one point to consider is whether the cabling is routed through the head stem or through the side of the frame. A lot of newer bikes have the cabling through the stem and it's difficult to fit an adjustable head stem after you buy the bike, should you want to fit...
I have trouble getting my head around the concept too but ultimately it only matters to the individual concerned - I just let people be whoever they want to be and accept them as they are - makes no difference to my life.
Dealers/manufacturers won't be in a rush to drop prices but if inventory builds prices will have to come down, perhaps later this year (wife needs to upgrade to dual suspension).
99bikes in Oz has some specials going on name brand EMTB's including some 2021 stock that's still around.
I like having bike eye-candy in the living room but that only happens in Winter after a wash so that it gets properly dry. Most of the time it's too dirty to bring inside.
I click on geographically interesting places in my Facebook feed and Sedona often comes up. My wife is from SanFrancisco and we travel over every few years. We hope to do a trip down through the southwest sometime and Sedona is on our list. She's been through there and says it looked amazing.
So we know she's a fit lady who likes outdoors and dogs. If she's also a nice, non-judgemental person there should be a boat load of eligible guys ............ and who wouldn't want to have a mountain-biking holiday in Sedona ...... looks like a great place.
I think Dobby's deadly downhill is winning so far, but I do run into some nasty sections on 4WD tracks which are closed during winter (the wife doesn't join me on these rides anymore :) )
It does seem like the UK is worse, but even here in Australia you can go 30 years without being hit or your place can be burgled twice in the same week, you just never know. My security has been beefed up as a result of reading this forum
- bike chained to floor, garage locked, no tools in the...
