I'd ride the bike for a while to see if any warranty issues pop up. No damage is done to the linkage until creaking starts anyway.
I just took mine apart after creaking started at 1100 km and while one arm was loose there wasn't any damage to the linkage splines.
In any case, thanks for starting the thread which showed me how to increase my Rise peak motor power to 500w - very happy with that.
The bike also seems to keep up better with our bosch powered bike, though I certainly defer to those knowledgeable about the software stating that only the display...
I found that going from a 38t chainring to a 34 (bosch cx4) caused errors when using the biggest rear sprocket. You might get away with a change of only 2 teeth.
My 2022 H30 has been good apart from the weak rear hub which I had to replace. It's a nice, fairly lightweight trail bike and I now have the EP8 settings on it (500W, 85nm) which makes it great for the steep terrain I ride on. I'm a 70kg rider and I don't jump the bike.
For heavier riders...
An adjustable stem can make a big difference to comfort where sore shoulders/arms/back are concerned, allowing the rider to adjust reach and sit more upright. They're best suited to bikes without headset cable routing: SATORI UP3 Bike Bicycle Riser Adjustable Handlebar Stem 1-1/8" x 31.8mm | eBay
Regarding the +5% speed adjustment, I've found that the EP8 speed does increase to approximately match the speed of our Bosch CX powered bike. I asked my wife to sit at 26km/h on a rail trail with the CX powered bike and the Rise was similar (riding beside her and watching both speedo's)...
I had my eye on an ep801 in future But I'll take MOG's advice and give it a miss. I've had difficulty getting service from Bosch too. Hope the DJI turns out to be reliable.
My Rise had the 85nm/350W settings from new and I left it that way until near the end of the warranty. Recently I used eMax mobile to increase the peak power to 500W (standard ep8 setting) and I find the bike so much more fun to ride. It's more similar to the Bosch CX with a lot less gear...
Can the newer batteries fit into the older frames so that you could replace the motor and battery?
I was sorely tempted to pick up a second 2022 Rise in the 50% off sales, but the lack of replacement batteries put an end to that idea.
I bought my 2022 Rise with the torque already increased to 85nm. It was ok but the power really dropped off quickly and necessitated a lot more gear changing than I was used to with the Bosch CX. Recently I used eMax freeware to increase the peak motor power from 350w to 500w (standard ep8...
I've had two seperate dealings with Orbea and Bosch (different bikes) - both distributors were crap, though the dealers I bought from were good.
Bosch won't even reveal the cost of a new CX 4 - apparently I can't even buy a new motor out of warranty unless my current motor is completely dead.
Seems like there's not much difference between this motor and the ep801. The motor with the best crankshaft sealing would be my choice since I ride in wet conditions.
My shop said the warranty would still be valid on my 2022 Rise when they changed to EP8 software, but you never know what will happen at claim time. Partly to compensate for warranty denials I'll only buy expensive new bikes at a big discount (40% off back when I bought my Rise).
If you call other shops you may find one that's happy to install the standard ep801 software. In Australia some shops will and some won't. My 2022 Rise had the standard EP8 software installed by the shop before I took delivery - Shimano doesn't care either way.
I've got various DT Swiss hubs and they've all been good (long, steep climbs on every ride). You can have alloy or steel freehubs but the alloy seems to last well anyway. Consider a DT 350 or Hybrid hub.
