The sooner local gov start thinking about the roads as being a resource for vehicles other than cars and lorries, the better. And ultimately, better for cyclists too.
Its a 12 months trail in the UK. So the current law is certainly not set in stone.
Have to hold a provisional or full license, have to be over 16.
Part of the trail is debating things like top speed (12.5 or 15.5mph) and max power (350w proposed).
The trail only covers government (local gov...
That's about it.
In fact I think that's why it's such an annoying noise. Not that it's very loud, but because it's at that pitch that sounds like something is wrong with the bike!
When I first got the bike I think I described Eco mode as "fairly quite, as quite as a drive chain that hasn't...
I think I can improve my Epic Tune based on this experience.
I didn't use Turbo at all, so instead I can have a narrower range across the three modes. Maybe: 30/30 40/50 50/70
Pretty sure I could have spent a lot of time in 40/50 yesterday, when Eco wasn't quite enough.
Yes some new bikes will be announced soon... BUT!
- A lot of brands did their significant refresh for 2020, thanks to the new Bosch motor out last year. Canyon included. There might not be many significantly different bikes from the big vendors.
- Even if new bikes are announced soon, they...
Just before lock down I got my Levo SL Expert and a pair of range extenders (RE). I thought, if I am paying that much for a bike, I want something close to the battery capacity I would have got with a new Bosch bike. At one point I was thinking of getting an Orbea with 625wh in the frame and...
I saw my first ever other Levo SL in the wild yesterday. Levo SL Comp alu, I think, in red. As I was cycling from Devizes up to the Wessex Way ridgeway.
Was it anyone on here?
Also got a slightly grumpy looking nod from Neil Donoghue later in the day, as he checked out my bike.
How much would you pay for ebike-as-a-service, per month?
Free break-fix for the motor, and when Mission Control registers your mileage, they send you replacement break pads, chains, and cassettes.
£50 a month? 50p a mile?
If I was Spesh, I'd skip the warranty and just offer the motor at a 'consumable' price.
An X0 cassette is about £250, a decent BB is about £40... So if they sold the motor for about £300, and I knew that's what it's gonna cost every once in a while, I'd be happy enough.
I dunno if the math...
Big hits, mine is relatively quite. Smaller chatter, the break pads/spring rattle in the caliper is really loud. Like, i though my headset or fork was broken. Mostly in the front caliper, less so at the back.
Spreading the pad spring thing helped a lot, but it's still a bit noisy over certain...
I dont see why we need to stretch the definition of what an e-bike is to introduce faster two wheeled vechicles on to the street. You could have a higher powered e-bike today, it would just be classed as a moped (in the UK, I appreciate the article is AUS).
So why not relax the rules on mopeds...
Looking at a route from Didcot (because I can get the train there) then over the Berkshire and Marlbourgh Down ridgeways. 80 miles back to my house.
Anyone know what those ridgeways are like? Fairly fast rolling at this time of year? Any cafe stops currently open? Anywhere to top up my battery?
I hadn't thought about the physics, so good point.
My reason for using the drain-RE-first options are:
- For day-long rides it's easier to find somewhere to plug the RE to charge, so I favor draining the RE and saving the main battery
- To reduce overall charge cycles on the main battery...
