Plug charger first into e-bike battery and then wall socket, or vice versa? (or it doesn't matter?)

I don't know much about electricity, but capacitors store electricity. If the capacitor(s) in a charger lose some of their charge over time then if you connect the charger to the battery before the wall then the capacitor will try to draw it's needed charge from the battery (not good). I think...

Plug charger first into e-bike battery and then wall socket, or vice versa? (or it doesn't matter?)

That's what I would do. It's better than the alternative and it's likely a short "extension" cord with heavy gauge wire that can handle the current.

    New to emtb

Your budget will also be a big factor. A lot of these bicycles cost more than my moto bikes. I am also an aging (57yo) moto guy. Plus I moved out of VT and lost all my riding buddies. And here I have to haul my moto bikes somewhere to ride them. So I got an (inexpensive) eMTB to ride the trails...

Plug charger first into e-bike battery and then wall socket, or vice versa? (or it doesn't matter?)

I believe this is the case with my Luna charger. Capacitor(s) need to be charged first (from the wall power) before connecting to the battery.

Plug charger first into e-bike battery and then wall socket, or vice versa? (or it doesn't matter?)

It seems that maybe the best bet is to have your electricity coming from a power supply with a switch that is turned off? Connect everything and then turn the power supply switch on? I dunno. My (Luna) charger says to plug the charger in before connecting the battery.

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

FYI, there's a FB group for this Hyper bike. It's fairly new but hopefully will build into a good resource. I don't have a FB account, so I'm not able to participate, but am (usually) able to view it.

    What mudguards are you using?

The Mudhugger extends down past the bottom bracket. They look very similar otherwise. It seems you might could pop-rivet an extension onto the SKS? Maybe cut some off the rear for that purpose? I cut some off the rear of my Mudhugger just because I thought it looked too long and goofy. ;-) I'd...

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

I'm fine with the current gears and chain. Around here we're mostly climbing or descending steep so I could probably get by with just 1st gear. lol I'm not sure what I'll do if/when the chain or gears fail but this isn't a bike I want to be dumping too much $ into. I'm still well under $2k (I...

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

I got a response that the Gold shock is no different except for the color. I'm waiting for my short crank arms and wondering if you also went to a smaller chainring?

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

I'm 5'9" and 32" inseam so I guessed maybe I'd try 160mm cranks vs the 152mm you got. I believe stock is 175mm. Well, I couldn't pass up this auction deal on some 152mm that I got for under $10 shipped. :) https://www.ebay.com/itm/276233052848 Thanks for the tip.

Me either. Hoping the seller responds (and in English). https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2332490.m570.l1313&_nkw=DNM+AOY-36RC+165&_sacat=0

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

I went online to order the DNM AOY-36RC shock and stumbled onto the DNM DV22AR spring shock. I wonder how it compares to the stock air shock and to the DNM AOY-36RC air shock. Also, I saw a "Gold" version of the AOY-36RC but I couldn't find out what the difference is. I emailed the seller.

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

I didn't try tubeless. I'm old school and don't trust that in the woods. Yes, there is noticeable resistance in 0.

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

Thanks for the reply. The bushings mod. seems cheap and easy enough to do, but when I had my shock off the swingarm seemed to move freely so I'm not sure of the benefit to changing the bushings?

Help me decide on an eMTB with full suspension ($2700 budget)

The wheels and gears seem fine to me except I switched the grip shift to a trigger. The tires were junk for sure. I went to MInions. The bars seem fine to me also. I have thought about shorter cranks to minimize pedal strikes. The fork I changed to a Rockshox Recon SIlver RL. I may try the...

Mudhugger surely has something to fit.

    Valk Titan 9+

I agree with all of that. But I've also seen very expensive bikes end up sitting in sheds because the buyer just isn't into it like they thought they would be. And I'm sure the thought of that possibility is keeping many from spending $3k+ to see if they're "into it" or not. Me and my $1.5K bike...

    Valk Titan 9+

A used bike likely comes with no warranty and a battery that may not have been properly cared for (so may have a shortened life expectancy). And finding one when you want one is a shot in the dark. For many (myself included) it's either a sub-$2k eMTB or no eMTB. And I'm totally enjoying what I...

    Valk Titan 9+

True. But that isn't even an eMTB. There's LOTS of bikes in that class for $2k or less. I do know what a $5k vs a $2k eMTB feels like. And I would probably spend $5k if MTB was my main activity (after I sold my gas-powered bikes). And I also know that a large portion of the population is not...

I don't think we're gonna see any of those options for $2k or less (USD). The market is really hurting for bikes in that price range. I realize that this is a site geared more towards "aficionados". It's a great web site and very active. Thank you for having me here. But there's a lot of us that...
