Out on the NY Moors; nice single track from Clay Bank to Carlton Bank and on to Snotterdale then some easy sightseeing across the top to Laskill. Returning via the top to the very steep Trennet descent - always an interesting drop but easier in this dry weather.
Trial and error - easy to check % with STunlocker and then see how much extra after an hour charge. I always boost mine to ~60% for storage and usually get it close enough.
Copper slip grease and anti-squeal shims on car brakes. Personally I'd be very nervous of putting any grease on my MTB pads because of the heat potentially melting it under hard braking and getting it on the disk just when you don't need it . .
Often that is the casei, but if the approach is slightly downhill and coasting, or slower/faster because of the trail just before it's easy to be wrong on unfamiliar stuff. Seems such a simple and useful thing to have displayed for free rather than cadence (who cares), speed (irrelevant) or...
Why don't Shimano have a gear readout on their displays? The software knows speed and cadance so it's an easy calcultion and would be useful when approaching obstacles, junctions, knarly bits etc. Nothing worse than being in too high or low gear and struggling to get the right one when it's too...
I'm 64 and find my Rise easy with zero drag for a short local circuit with short climbs and mainly flattish trails. The extra weight only becomes a pain when you've been out a few hours and tired, then it feels horrendous up any long climbs. It's all relative to how you feel and what you expect...
My Orbea Rise rides like a normal bike motor off, and if I'm going for a short ride I leave it off. Even did a fairly stiff climb at the w/e just for the cardio, one I don't always manage on a 12kg manual! Funny thing is if I switch off mid ride it feels like there is a resistance, but if I ride...
70km around local woods and back roads mostly on eco - longest ride so far and still plenty left in the tank. Getting it in whilst the weather lasts . .
The Wye river bridge is at Redbrook across to the Boat Inn (for lunch). The stone bridge was somewhere as we dropped down to Redbrook, maybe where the arrow is . .
