As far as I know (reading forum posts in the German Pedelecforum), the EP801-EU (max. 25km/h), the EP801-US (32km/h - 20mph) and the EP801-US-class3 (45km/h - 28mph) are mechanically and electrically absolutely identical drive units and also use the same motor firmware from Shimano. These 3...
You can reset your bike fully to unmodified factory settings by yourself (you don´t need a remote control session for this).
However, you definitely need a PCE2 interface and a Windows computer for this (this is also the gear you need to do the optimization via remote control session).
Before...
I did the tuning via remote control session. The guys replied quite fast and I think the optimization including finding an appoinment which matched for me and them was done within 1 or 2 days after the first contact.
I love Austraaaaalia "down under", but it´s a bit far away to do an optimization of a bike (and it´s most probably quite expensive to take your bike with the plane). (y)
But anyways - thanks for the interesting link.
Please don´t mix things - this forum thread is solely related to the new EP801 drive unit (see the topic "ep801-solution") from Shimano and your nice Santa Cruz bike most probably is using the somewhat older EP800 drive unit if you have done a wheel circumference mod with the E-Tuning app...
No, it is an EU model and was limited to an annoying max. speed of 25kph before the EMAX mod, but I think this does not matter for the tuning if it is an EU or US model.
My bike was modified by EMAX at beginning of November, so close to 2 months now, and I have ridden more than 2000km since...
It´s not a question of what I´m saying - it´s just a simple calculation.
However, there are some parameters missing for the proper calculation:
- missing size of the smallest rear sprocket (which for sure will and shoud be used in this case)
- real size (wheel circumference) of the 27,5" wheel...
...I completely understand your thoughts, but this is not the case on Shimano drive units and I don´t agree that the Shimano motor is not a "modern e- motor". I´m quite happy with my baby. :)
But every aspect mostly has a downside and if there will be (or indeed is) a gear reduction between the...
At least on Shimano systems the chainring has always the same speed that the crank with the pedals (and so also your cadence), at least when you are turning the crank in forward direction and thus the free wheeling mechanism inside the motor is not active.
So there is no internal gearing between...
I think it is not my duty to convince you and to create a video to satisfy your purposes - I´m happy if my bike works well and if you don´t believe in this, it is up to you.
Is there any reason why I should write publicly that the mod is working if it is not - that makes no sense for me...
I´m not sure how the subscription for the GPS tracker will be handled in the UK after the free of charge period.
Most probably the service will get deactivated automatically if the fee will not be paid, but I´m not sure...
I just wanted to mention this that it is maybe a good idea to have a look...
Take care: The usage of this GPS tracker which is used by Canyon is (depending on your region) free of charge for 1 year - however after this period of time you normally have to pay a monthly fee!
I´m using EMAX software via bluetooth and interface and there is the possibility to set destination back to "factory" - setting, which most probably will do the job you need, but not 100% sure and maybe depending on the motor type (I cannot use this on my new EP801).
There is no "standard" tire circumference, because each bike manufacturer may use different wheel sizes and tire types.
The initial wheel circumference which was programmed by the bike manufacturer will be shown in the regulation change history log:
So, your bike manufacturer was programming a...
Don´t change region, because the region / destination setting is absolutely fine for your (UK) bike.
If region setting would not be fine, then you would have gotten a different red warning, see e.g. in the situation of another biker where in fact the destination setting is not matching the...
The red warning is definitely to the incorrect region / destionation setting, otherwise the text in the red warning would have be different:
If you read an analyse this red warning text thoroughly, then you will instantly see the reason for this warning: So, in this case it is "Destination"...
Most probably your bike is still programmed to US mode (because you can increase max. speed to 32km/h like seen with the blue button).
You have to program it back to EU mode with E-Tuning app (and not just reduce the max. speed to 25km/h).
