We know that the camera lies. But the terrain can lie too. There is a feature on the red trail in Gisburn Forest in the UK. It is actually to one side of the red and is rated black. From memory it is called "The Slab" at Whelpstone Crag. From the top it looks like a 70-degree rocky drop-off...
This sort of ill-informed publicity is bad for us. We know it is wrong, but "Joe public" does not. Slowly and surely, it is building up in the minds of the public at large that e-bike batteries are dangerous. One small step further and it will be e-bikes themselves.
OK, who cares about what Joe...
I agree, but not 12" +/- half of 1/16", not even just a bit past the black line on the tape. It should be spot on.
To measure accurately a 12" length of chain, you really need two people. One to hold one of the key indicators (like an inch marker) exactly over then centre of a pin. The second...
@Plummet Wow! That second pic has an abrupt transition from drop to level. The steepness of that drop doesn't put me off, but that transition sure does! My suspension is just not set up for that sort of transition at the speed you would be going at.
That third pic looks daunting; it is...

I have only ever used one wire bead tyre and there was absolutely no confusing it with a Kevlar bead. But thanks to that single experience, I cannot give you half a dozen differences.
If you have kinks in the Kevlar tyres they should ease out if left laid flat in a warm room.
It can't be a "pedal assist" without pedals, can it?
Continue to get your son the lightest bike that you can afford for him. Work out what percentage of his weight the bike is. Compare that to your last mtb. Then get him a lighter one!
You will be rewarded with a son who loves biking and...
I have had Shimano XT, 4 piston, finned resin pads BR-M8120 on my current and previous emtb and their 2-piston equivalent on previous mtb bikes for quite some time (finned and unfinned).
As long as new pads get bedded in properly, I have had virtually zero problems and that includes needing to...
@2WheelsNot4 Why were you riding with baggy trousers at the ankle? I ruined several pairs of trousers and had one unplanned dismount because I failed to deal with the bagginess. All many years ago, when I was new to biking in long trousers.
Latin lovers call the left-handed "sinister" and the right-handed "dexter" (where the word dextrous comes from). Lefties are rarer than righties and "sinister" became the word used for sinister. (There's something wrong with him.)
Well, that was what I learned as a kid! As a dextrous rightie...
To use the feeler gauge as a ramp, if it wasn't clear enough.
Or any piece of really thin metal, like that cut from a can.
Whenever I have had the chain stuck like that (about three times, years ago), I just grabbed a handful of chain and pulled it upwards and away. It always, always, left...
You need a French biker and that's not me! Only been to the Alps.
Does the map of emtb members show many from France? If they can be identified you could ping them a message.
@Zimmerframe lives in France, he may be able to help.
