Shimano also did the rolling two year warranty, at least for the E8000, never official though. I got two replacements on my early 2018 E-Sommet, last one went within the 2 year period and it was rejected as the bike was deemed too old. I don't know what the policy is for newer bikes now.
Might sell the frame and all ebike running gear if any interest, prob looking for £800. Two batteries, recent frame and headset bearings. Still an awesome bike, I just fancy a new one
Local coating place. They dropped them in the bath to strip them while I waited, took them home and gave them a clean and polish and then dropped back to them
I have size 12 UK and also felt that on Vaults and Unites my feet wanted to roll off the edges at times. Never actually happened but felt like it and lost a foot in the tech occasionally although possibly not related to pedal size. Just got a pair of Chromag Daggas, only one ride so far but my...
Looks great, I like the silver outline graphics. Not sure I'd have done it on a new frame and knacked the warranty though
I did my Vitus recently although didn't go to the same level of polishing effort on my 5 year old frame, pleased with how it turned out with a scotchbrite pad finish. Went...
Chromag Dagga pedals. Wanted some for ages for my size 12s but they're like rocking horse shit and mental expensive to boot, picked up a pair for a sensible-ish price on ebay
Was thinking of getting one despite the battery fitment issues but reading this has just removed it from the list, plenty of deadfall on my local trails!
Hard one to call, I'm 191cm on the gen 1 XL, the gen 2 L and XL are either side of this reach wise though. If most of your riding isn't hitting chunk at high speed I'd likely go for the L, you might need to run a 50mm stem though as the ST angle on the gen2 is steeper so might be a bit cramped...
Starchem Synstrip. It's the proper stuff, I did it outdoors wearing chem gauntlets, eye protection and a decent mask. Even then it took quite a number of applications and further sanding. There is also filler around the top battery mount knuckle where it is welded to the frame, filled and sanded...
Paint was looking a bit tatty on the old girl and I had always wanted to raw a frame so decided to give it a go. Started off with this
Many hours with industrial paint stripper, sand paper and wet and dry later
Ended up with this
Quite pleased with how it turned out
