I will try anything. When I first got it, I set up the fork according to the Fox recommendations and it felt awful. It was like riding over broken bricks the whole time (big ones). So I slowly changed the settings.
When I compared the settings that TF Tuned set up for me (how the hell do they...
My God @franciscoasismm! I have seen the distances you clock up on your other bikes, and was amazed! AND NOW THIS!
You must be commuting on all your bikes, and a very long way, to rack up such distances.
I agree with that @Mikerb it's how I do it normally. As for set up I will try the settings from TF Tuned (just in case) and then start from scratch again. which will be pretty much what you recommended anyway. :)
@Bones I suppose so. Let's do some very simple sums.
Let's assume that the bike weighs 24kg and the rider weighs 96kg, total 120kg. Let's also assume that the weight is evenly distributed between front and rear wheels, for starters
Later Edit: The bit I missed is that the front wheel and half...
I took the bike to my LBS and the top guy agreed that it shouldn't be doing that. It had only been about 400 miles since the last service by TF Tuned. He spoke to them and they agreed to take a look at it. It came back having been given a full service. Their written report said that everything...
@Mikerb "Agreed...Assegai is a great all round tyre but no good in sticky mud because it just clogs up. Fortunately most of my riding is in forests where the trails are sandy loam/ pine needle compost and the Assegai is good in those trail conditions."
I could have written that! :)
I'm not saying it isn't there, because if I concentrate, I can hear it. But I prefer not to spend my time listening out for it and it absolutely does not bother me, to the point where I no longer hear it.
I started wearing hearing aids in August last year. I wore them a couple of times on the...
I was travelling with a bunch of locals in Sweden almost 40 years ago. It was May and I'd been told that morning that they had had a meter of snow in the town centre (Norkopping) the previous week. We were out in the sticks, travelling to the Baltic coast, and I asked if they had bears or wolves...
What wears the cassette is worn chains. Cheap chains tend to wear faster and therefore wear all the other parts of the drivetrain. If you buy better quality chains they will last longer and so will the rest of the drivetrain.
For example, when I first started in mtb, I used to buy the cheapest...
If there is nothing actually wrong with the old mech, tell the LBS to hang onto it. Then you can swap out the jockey wheels yourself. Then you have a spare mech for the time when you break the new mech in two (I've done that twice now).
@Nystrom Here is another reason to have somewhere reasonably close. Intermittent faults!
My display kept cutting out and the motor would stop. Then it would start again for no obvious reason. I took it to dealer and he wheeled it into the workshop. I'm glad he didn't have a lot to do that day...
+1 for DMR from me.
I have had two pairs of DMR Vaults, from when I first had two bikes. I bought the first pair in 2010 and the second pair a year later. Since Jan 2019, I've only had one bike, so one set is sat in reserve. From memory, I have only replaced the bearings on this pair of pedals...
I remember being very sharply told by @Gary that my Focus Jam2 air vents did not lead directly to the battery (it was implied I was a stupid boy for thinking such). In fact, there is a thin wall section that separated the battery from the vent channel. I still don't know whether there was or not...
If you still enjoy the mtb, then keep it.
I kept my Whyte T130C RS for three months and didn't ride it once. I took it out for a spin and all my knee pain came back, so I sold it.
However, I wished that I had not sold it, but kept it for my grandson who in only a few years would have been tall...
