I suspect that slower shifting on AXS setups is because the servo bulk moves the idlers forward about 20mm, so there's a LOT more chain between the top idler and the cassette, so the angular deflection is reduced and doesn't always drag the chain off the sprocket that it's on.
I modified a...
Cables are absolutely fine IF the routing isn't so tortuous that the shifting suffers, which is how I ended up with an AXS on my heap of shit Giant Trance.
You can do a lot with some simple bits of timber.
Something like a 8" wide strip of MDF, with 3x2 'sides screwed from underneath and a block of timber to be a 'shoe', with an appropriately placed 15mm hole through it for the axle bolt.
Wheel off, place your block in the forks (the heavier...
The issues that we had with our Giant e bikes were mostly down to Giant's own firmware and nothing to do with the Yamaha motor itself, but also the very poor quality wiring, (which I completely replaced with much better quality wiring).
The mechanical part of the bikes has mostly been fine...
A friend of mine bought an E8000 (for his Bianchi) from a German company on fleabay and he didn't have to send his old one back, and nor should you have to.
Yes, to be fair their support is the best, but it needs to be because otherwise nobody would buy their bikes (which are greatly overpriced for a given spec).
A customer of mine who is a specialized dealer said that they factor in the cost of three replacement motors for each bike, which is why...
Because they're dreadfully unreliable, so much so that Spesh felt the need to double their warranty period to four years.
The new motors are better, now they're only 'very poor', whereas before they were 'dire'.
This is why I bought a Fulgur Mula.
However, they (Polini) won't just sell parts to ANYONE, you've got to be an approved repairer (IE, trained to do the job).
I'm hoping to do the training required so they will supply me the parts to do my own motor, when the time comes.
I chose my most recent EMTB (I have too many) because it seemed to be the best option bike for my use with the motor that I wanted (Polini MX).
An added bonus (though I didn't realise it at the time) was that it comes with EXT suspension, which is incredible. (The lower spec version of the bike...
You can put OS maps on one too, but just that upgrade alone costs as much as the whole Nav.
Plus, to get a readable size of screen for navigation, you need to get the big Garmin, 1030 is it or something?
By the time you have a comparable product from Garmin, it's the best part of a grand. I...
It's worth looking at the TwoNav/Ordnance Survey Trail-2 Bike.
It displays and records ride routes, HR, Cadence, Power etc etc.
It can store loads of routes, and you can send routes to it from a phone app. It can be set to automatically upload your rides to Strava etc if you want as well.
You...
I had exactly the same issues with bike centre distance. I ended up getting a German made 'Atera Strada E-bike XL', which is 230mm centre distance and is plenty, even for my 'Boost plus' axle bike.
I did fit an extra rail for a third (regular) bike, but had to modify it because it was way too...
