@Stihldog Awesome looking setup. Also just want to thank you because your post cost me $110 Canadian bucks as I promptly bought a Steadyrack to store my new Decoy Shred! ??
Agreed - I ended up getting 203mm Ice-Tech rotors as well. Were you going to run the same rotors?
And, can you tell if the hose, with the cap on, will be able to feed through the ports so no spilling fluid during install?
Awesome thanks for the guidance on this @Gemini2k. I was looking more at it yesterday and yeah I can see the headtube part being the tricky bit - not a lot of room to get a hand up there to push it through. I was hoping that I will be able to keep the hose capped to not leak any fluid, but not...
Just got my Decoy Shred delivered here in Calgary - only took a week which was surprising. Perhaps everyone is waiting for the 2021s with the EP8s?
Will post some pics in the upgrade thread once I am "done" (are we ever really done upgrading ;)). One of the upgrades I am doing is to Saints...
I also found the OneUp bars helped with hand fatigue. I find the compliance of them is great, especially if it is a rough downhill section. They are my favorite bars for sure - have some waiting to be installed when my Decoy Shred gets here.
Thanks @Singletrackmind . Appreciate you confirming. And thanks for the article in the other post - most of these should be boost nowadays.
I went to the e*13 site (I should have done that in the first place) for the wheelsets supplied - E*Thirteen - and it does in fact say they use boost...
Another question on the Decoy Shred. I am thinking about replacing the wheelsets. I put a question into YT, but thought I would check here as well. On the Shred, is anyone able to confirm the following:
Front: 110x15 - I am assuming it is boost? Is that correct?
Rear: 148x12 which should...
Awesome man thanks. Already have a couple of upgrades waiting on the workbench to install. I have cushcore for both front and rear (no new tires yet so thanks for the suggestion), tubeless sealant, oneup pedals, and a oneup carbon bar, and ergon grips. I loved that carbon bar on my last...
Thanks @Singletrackmind . That is kind of what I was thinking. Your ride looks amazing, and I can definitely see the shine. Based on pics from around this site and elsewhere, the paint on the Shred does look more matte as you said. Appreciate the guidance!
Just ordered a Decoy Shred size Medium. They actually had stock in Canada so based on my discussion with the support guy (Shaun in the US was awesome) it should ship early this week. Super excited. Was going to get a Commencal Meta Power 27, but what was supposed to be a spring delivery is...
In Canada here - here is what I have ordered:
Bike: Commencal Meta Power
Build: SX Signature 2021
Forecasted Arrival Date: March 2021 (been told via email that it will be shipped March 15th)
I am a shy over 167cm and went with a small based. I like the more nimble feeling of a smaller bike on the downhills. I have learned over the years to trust what the manufacturers recommend in terms of sizing, and then if I am stuck between sized I go smaller. that said, I have a shorter torso.
@Dirtysouth - thanks for that. Interesting that it is just a channel. Sounds like wrapping would work - might be good to cover with electrical tape or something like that for some added protection. Any chance for a pic when you have a couple minutes free?
Yeah the bikes are not cheap - but a worthy investment if it means it gets me out riding, gets the heart rate up, and I can bomb more downhill sections than on a non-eMTB!
Thanks for the link on the handlebar - I really like the oneup bars and will stick with that but always looking for other...
I have a 2021 Meta Power 27 SX Signature coming in March (I’m in Canada) and was wondering about the RideAlpha handlebars that come with the bike. I put on a OneUp Carbon bar on my last bike (non-eMTB) and loved it. Very little arm pump and just felt amazing to ride the downhill sections...
Joined a few weeks ago and have been lurking around. Just sold my full suspension Niner build up I did during lock down (project to keep my mind off of things other than work!) so that I could put in an order for an eMTB (they are not cheap!).
As a 46 year old dude the climbs are not what...
