Can anyone recommend a cruiser/relaxed type of handlebar.

I've mounted a set of Surly Sunrise bars on my Merida e160e. I really like them.

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

Hi Bearing Man. Do you have an email address for Shimano? I'd be happy to send them an email. I bought a set of bearings for my EP-8000 through your Australia distributor - and fitted the easiest ones to get to myself. My preference would have been to send the motor away for a more thorough...

2018 Merida e160 900E Crack in Seat Tube

What you say is no doubt fundamentally true. But I think I'd still be waiting for an outcome if I went through consumer affairs.

2018 Merida e160 900E Crack in Seat Tube

Hi Toommo963. The frame was indeed replaced under warranty by Merida Australia. But it was a hard slog and it only possible because the bike shop (Cheeky Bikes in Newcastle) was outstanding with their after sales support. If you are the original owner, then you should be ok. But the process...

Shimano BT-E8010 - Battery Blinking Light Error

Hi All in Oz. My Shimano BT-E8010 battery, for my Merida e160 900e, has been sagging for many months now. Up until a week ago, it charged to "4 bars" before the dreaded blinking light charging error. Now it doesn't even get that far. Is there anyone in Oz that would disassemble and fit all...

    E8050 Cranks - Clicking Noise

I eventually found the double clicking noise. It turns out it was the left side pedal. The thread in the crank arm was damaged - I suspect from a heavy pedal strike. The pedal spindle was also bent by a small amount. I changed the crank and pedal and the double clicking disappeared!

Is there an XL size frame for the Shimano E8000 motor and E8010 battery?

My other frustration is Merida Australia do have a candidate frame in XL, but they won't sell it to me through a Retailer. They only keep frames for warranty claims! Why anyone would buy a used Merida here in Australia is beyond me.

Is there an XL size frame for the Shimano E8000 motor and E8010 battery?

Well.......I highly suspect a 2018 Merida E160E would be difficult to sell for reasonable money. And it wouldn't be surprising if the bike is worth much more to me than I'm likely to be offered. All the components are still in very good condition. And I like the external battery. 99% of the...

Is there an XL size frame for the Shimano E8000 motor and E8010 battery?

Hi All. I have a Merida eONE SIXTY 900E, size large. It was purchased used and it seems it wasn't sold in Australia in an XL frame size. But at 6' 3" tall, an XL frame size is probably a better choice. The eONE SIXTY 500SE and the 800SE was sold here in Oz in XL frame. Those frames are...

    Bike Fit Recommendations

I've decided to buy some SBLab bars and stem and spacers that get me very close my RAD of 840mm and RAAD of 58 to 60 degrees. My local SQLab retailer is also a physiotherapist and bike fitter. I'm going to pay for a bike fit to see what his process is for MTBs and the difference in result to...

    Bike Fit Recommendations

Hi All. I'm getting better at this eMTB caper. And it seems "a bit better" translates to much more confidence and a whole lot more fun on the trails. And I want to improve some more to justify my next eMTB purchase :) But at 188cm tall, I'm on the cusp for most bikes between the L and XL...

    Official Merida eOne-Sixty thread

Yes - that is certainly an option. I'm studying bike fit and geometry now. I came across the RAD and RAAD (Lee Likes Bikes) topic recently. Using AutoCAD I've drawn my frame and candidate SQLabs cockpit parts (stem, spacers and handlebar) to get to a supposedly near perfect RAD = 840mm and...

    Official Merida eOne-Sixty thread

That's a good point about weight over the front wheel when climbing. There is one short sharp steep section where I have been riding and the front wheel already bobs to the point it must be very near lift-off.

    Official Merida eOne-Sixty thread

Hi All. My Merida e160 900e has a Large size frame. I'm 6' 3" and 120kg. When I first started this mtb journey, I don't think the "bike fit" was all that important. Nor body attitude on the bike. I was generally a passenger everywhere on the trails going downhill and just using the motor to...

2018 Merida e160 900E Crack in Seat Tube

Hi All. I was giving my 2018 e160 900E a wash today and was horrified to find a crack in the seat tube just below the welded joint with the top tube. The crack is around 40mm long. Did these frames have a history of cracking? Has anyone had a repair successfully performed? I will contact...

    E8050 Cranks - Clicking Noise

Hi All. I've enjoyed owning my 2018 eONE-SIXTY 900-E. It was purchased used with around 4000kms on the odo. It's approaching 6000 kms now. For the last 1000km or so, it's had a very annoying double clicking sound that is timed with the chain ring rotation. In that time, I've tried multiple...

Bulge in the bead - reuse, fit a tube or replace?

Thanks for the replies. I will go back to the bike store where I purchased the tyre and see what they can offer. I didn't keep the receipt though :( My front tyre is a Maxxis Forekaster 27.5x2.35. I was running that at 22 psi and the Ardent Race 27.5x2.2 at 25psi. I'm not a great rider, and...

Bulge in the bead - reuse, fit a tube or replace?

It's stuffed. I think I'm going to try another brand. Can anyone suggest a replacement for an Ardent Race?

Bulge in the bead - reuse, fit a tube or replace?

Hi All. As shown in the pic, a portion of the bead on my rear tyre has parted from the rim. It's a Maxxis Ardent Race 27.5 x 2.20. It's very annoying because the tyre is only a few months old. Last time out on the trail, I knew the rear tyre made made contact with the stub of a tree root and...
