Nice Gordon, I'm like you too, it's been a while since I did any proper mountain biking and the ebike makes it so easy to get back into.
Seems like the ebike scene is taking off fast in Aussie, I'm based in Brisbane and me and the wife ride Giant Trance E+
Sweet! Yeah those are the same pedals i got, the gold pins do work nicely with the orange to be fair so you wont be disappointed. Medium sounds like a good choice. Drop some pics on the forum once you pick it up.
Yes mate! Thats great news! Congrats! What size did you go for in the end?
I got a side entry bottle holder for mine as it can be difficult to get a water bottle out of a traditional bottle holder because the top tube runs down at a fairly steep angle.
I was a bit concerned about motor noise...
Just that there is a lot of modulation or travel in the lever. So you have to pull the lever a fair bit before you get full lock. I'm sure it can be adjusted but I like how they feel now that I'm used to them.
See how you go tomorrow, will be good to hear what you think.
Yeah the orange really pops in the sunlight, and the black trim has got silver flecks in the paint that also look really good in the sunlight. My wife has the E+3 and i must admit i really like the green that it comes in, but i wanted the high spec of the E+1
Funny enough that is the exact bike I have :)
I really like the Yamaha motor, the torque sensors work really well and the motor activates with the slightest push of the pedal which I like but it might not be for everyone. I went for the Giant E+1 because it gave me the best spec for the price...
I just measured my sit bones at home and add 2cm. I ordered from an Australian distributor as I'm based in Brisbane.
You won't be disappointed with e+1. I have no regrets so far.
The crank length hasn't been an issue yet, it was in the back of my mind yesterday but I'm pleased to say the only thing my peddal hit was a stick poking out from a bush at about shin height that I didn't see. I am pretty light for my height though (80kg/6"5) so that might be a benefit?
I have...
Seat post height on the XL and M is no issue at all. The dropper post works well and makes things very easy when transitioning from up hill to down hill.
We had a ride yesterday with a number of technical climbs, lots of roots and broken ground, very steep in some places too, and both bikes...
So it looks like around 400 to 500 annual from most places. Seems a lot but I guess that's the price you pay for peace of mind. Will probably go for Velosure based on flatchat's feedback. Thanks guys
Y
Yeah I will give them a call tomorrow because something doesn't seem right there. They were the first link on Google so thought they might be a popular choice but wanted to see what others were doing.
My home insurance is almost up so I might ring around and see if any other company will...
Hi Guys,
Anyone from Aus got any recommendations for ebike insurance? I have checked with my home insurance provider (Woolworths) but they are not willing to cover them.
I have found Welcome to Velosure - Bicycle and cycling insurance | Velosure - Bicycle and cycling insurance who will offer...
It is definitely worth negotiating on extras as part of the initial purchase, you are spending a lot of money on a new bike so the bike store should be accommodating. I got a discount on peddles and bottle holder, and they threw in a free water bottle too. Add to that a $(AUD)1000 discount on...
This is definitely something I'm considering too. It feels a bit low for me. I was wondering though, could I just add more spacers to increase the height or do you think it's better going to new bars and stem? What made you choose that setup?
I'm a bit a noob when it comes to upgrades and...
I didn't try any others tbh, I was considering the Merida 900 but my LBS that stocked them was messing me about so I gave up trying to test ride one.
I must admit the low stack height is a bit of an issue, I noticed this yesterday while on the cycle paths to work. I think I might change a few...
