Small group of riders and ebike divide is growing :-(

Most of my rides are social. I'm doing a 400km trip round central Australia on gravel roads with about 8 mates. Only 2 are E-Bikes. Only 50-80km each day. Stay at a pub each night. Get on the pints. Take the piss out of each other. Then ride again the next day. :ROFLMAO: Some people ride...

Orbea Urrun EP801 and XT Di2 with auto shift headache

You should be able to change your shifter to electronic with current version of MiniMax 2.5. But do not attempt the derestriction till they update the firmware upgrade. About 3-4 weeks they are saying. Below in the highlighted areas is what you need to change to set up the electronic shifting...

    Range Extender or Spare Battery

    Orbea Rise Battery Replacement

My comment wasn't about the Orbea Rise. It was about the battery life. And I was answering that question. Time and km is a factor in battery life. But how the battery was used, charged and maintained is a big factor as well. If you cannot check how you have used, charged or do maintenance on...

    Range Extender or Spare Battery

Re weight : I meant the battery cage and wiring harness for the extender. That will always be there. The other thing I meant regarding weight. Is I sometimes need to lift the bike over fallen trees and branches in the national park, as you are not allowed to touch them. Only the certified...

Anyone else jumping on the Dakotah bandwagon

No. Aero makes a significant difference in downhill. They banned aerodynamic suits in downhill. They were giving a 1 -2 second advantage, and the sport didn't want to go down the lycra path.

Anyone else jumping on the Dakotah bandwagon

I'm sure it's much more comfortable. But I think it would negatively impact the weight on the front wheel, and aerodynamics. And make your centre of gravity higher. Oh BTW. I come from a motorcycle racing background, so hugging the frame is not uncomfortable for me.

    Range Extender or Spare Battery

Thanks guys. Just wanted some feedback on my own preference to get a spare battery. Seems like the better move. Ta.

    Orbea Rise Battery Replacement

My Shimano battery can be analysed with the Etube Windows app. It tells me : 1) How many recorded charge cycles 2) How many time I charged it in extreme temps, both high and low. 3) How many time I discharged it in extreme temps, both high and low. If you have less than 1000 charge cycles and...

    Range Extender or Spare Battery

Oh and EPIC Bikes in Australia do a range extender for the Shimano EP6 or EP801. But it's quite expensive to install. Around AUD$900 for the 250wh version. https://epicebikes.com.au/product/shimano-trail-extender-bottle-batteries/

    Range Extender or Spare Battery

I have some friends who go out into the wilderness on long rides, and camp overnight in Alpine regions. I want to join them, but need to ensure I don't run out of battery, as the return ride can be brutal without assistance and a full load. Quite dangerous to get caught out and it gets dark...

From Road to EMTB, 1 week in and caught the bug!

I run a flat bar commuter ebike for road work. And use it for all transport within 10km of home. I'm not a fan of road riding, having been hit twice by drivers who said they just didn't see me. So unless you feel you get some sort of additional exercise from the road bikes, I'd trade the...

Small group of riders and ebike divide is growing :-(

I was the first in my group to change to EMTB. Mainly because there were so many areas of the Forests we were not riding, because the climb out was painful on a MTB. The guys initially called me all the usual names, but when they saw how my ability to climb was now so superior, they all...

    E bike... Alps

My local MTB Resort Thredbo, they have hooks on the side chairlift that you have to lift the bikes into. Or the proper front wheel holder. That was my old Carbon Marin with the Bafang motor, and was only about 21kg. So I could lift that one in and out without removing the battery. But the...

    The EBike Riding Data Thread

I find the chest mount monitors are more accurate and don't lose signal. I keep all the data easily visible whilst I'm riding, so I can make adjustments as I go. My default visible parameters are : Speed Distance Travelled Time pedalling Remaining Battery Range Heart Rate What gear the bike...

    E bike... Alps

I put it in my backpack. I can't load my bike with a battery in my hands.

    E bike... Alps

My EMTB downhills very differently, with the battery out. I really don't like it. I don't feel the front wheel grips as well. And the suspension specifically mentions it's tuned for the EBike. Take the battery out for the lifts. Carry it yourself on the lift. Put it back to ride down.

Drive train swap from Shimano to SRAM

I tried Linkglide. I found it shifts a little slow, and went back to hyperglide+. I've settled on the CS-M6100-12 (10-51T) Deore cassette. I prefer the snappier shifting and just change the cassette regularly. Like every 12 - 18 months. I change the chain as well at the same time. The Deore...

    Ding Ding... ring my bell!!

Ok ........ another update on The Cheap Chinese CowBell . The Ebay site offered me a full refund, if I changed my negative review. I told them, "No", the review stands, they can keep the money. We have to stop taking refunds to remove negative reviews on products that are clearly never...

    eP8 Screen port "blanks"

Ok. It does have 4 SD300 ports. They all work the same. It doesn't matter which order you plug things in. You should definitely plug the last port. The plugs I quoted above will do the job. Maybe try your LBS as well. In the mean time, spray with Water Dispersant.
