I use the normal trail cross as a summer shoe. They are great I’d imagine these will be awesome for winter trail centre and Surrey hill riding but my only point would be any riding that envolves some off bike pushing in mud, they will be useless for grip. I tend to wear my goretex trail shoes...

Don't disagree, but your situation is probably the minority. And for that reason a concession should be given as appropriate. There are always exceptions to the norm. However they would have based their pricing on the majority. And the vast majority average rider / fitness will certainly cover...

Think you answered your own question mate. As tempting as it is to get one now, if its not the right bike its a lot of money to spend and wish you had the one you wanted all along.....

But on the rockshox that max pressure if based on a weight - As there's a chart showing weight and pressures. So if the max pressure is recommended for the max weight on that chart its a fair assumption that the shock isn't going to be rated for someone heavier...
