@Mikerb
Thanks for your feedback.
As I expected. The latest motor update is V 1.1.5.0 and my bike was delivered with that version in May 2021.
With V 1.1.5.0 there came a number of enhancements. I hope you can benefit from the difference.
From the Bosch website:
“Since model year 2021 with...
@friendlywrench
Thanks for your response.
When I told my wife what it would cost to put two lights on her bike, she stopped the project. 🤷♂️
She normally only rides during daylight and has a battery powered frontlight from her old bike.
The Nyon from above is the display only. No mount, no cable and no controller. It could be useful for someone who lost his display but not for an upgrade from a different display..
@Mikerb is right. You would need to swap the existing display cable. I have never worked on a Trek Rail and don’t...
Do you have Tour or Tour+ installed? You can’t see that on the Purion display because it’s not capable of displaying Tour+. You need your LBS to check it with diagnostics.
With Bosch motors the main factor they react to is input power, not cadence. The motor will add a percentage of your power...
Yes, that’s correct.
I checked the published configuration of the 2022 Trek Rail 5 and it comes with 165 mm cranks.
Therefore I would again recommend to have your LBS install the eMTB mode for short cranks. With that version you will need less power to reach higher motor support levels (in that...
First, there is no trail mode on Bosch motors, so which mode are you unhappy with?
Second, the factory modes (Eco, Tour or Tour+, Sport or EMTB, Turbo) cannot be customized. Neither by the user nor by the LBS.
There are only two modifications a LBS can make using the Bosch diagnostic software...
That makes sense. Bosch calls the older system BES2 (Bosch Ebike System 2) and all new smart systems are called BES3. This is a new grouping above the motor generation which is still gen2, gen3 and gen4.
Bosch defines short cranks as 165mm or shorter and all longer ones as regular.
Depending on...
Are you sure about the gen2 motor?
According to internet information the 2020 Whyte E180 RS came with the gen4 Bosch CX Performances motor. This can easily be seen, as the gen4 uses the regular large chainring whereas the gen2 had the unusual small chainring with 14-20 teeth.
Assuming you...
Did you activate the activity-tracking function in your Flow app?
You need to open the Flow app, go to settings - profile and switch activity-tracking on (blue). Only then tracking will work.
The manual for the TQ50 charger clearly states to first plug the charger into the wall outlet and then plug the charger into the battery port. I have no reason to do this differently.
The system reserves the amount of battery charge that is needed to power the light for two hours.
So internally the light wattage which was stored with the diagnostic system is multiplied by two and that value in Wh will be reserved.
Example: The dealer stores the maximum of 18W as light...
Connect a light to the correct cable and check whether it can be activated.
You could also connect a multimeter to that cable and measure the output. It should show 12V when activated.
You are right.
As to the question about retrofitting a bike with mini remote and system controller, that is a different task. It can be done, but where do you mount the system controller? Normally it belongs into a hole on the top of the top tube.
I have been looking into what is needed to power front and rear lights from the TQ main battery for my wife’s Scott Lumen eRide.
Has anyone done this and could confirm my findings?
There are no connectors for lights on the motor. TQ offers a smartbox which needs to be mounted near the display...
Does this leave you enough space for the nut needed to fasten the external lockring? Looks rather close and you might need to remove the magnet and put it back on after fastening the rotor to the hub.
The data your bike computer uses for guessing range ist mostly based on your last ride. When that was done at -4°C the computer will simply apply the full battery charge to the old ride data which gives the low estimate.
It is completely normal to see a significant drop in range at low...
Good price and I‘m sure you noticed that this close out deal comes without the original packaging. Check for blemishes.
Keep us posted how you dealt with the magnet.
That rotor looks like a Shimano Steps RT-EM600 (includes magnet) fastened with an external serrated lockring.
The speed sensor looks like the original Bosch speed sensor (not a slim sensor) which normally was mounted further forward on the frame together with a spoke magnet. In your case the...
