Has anybody successfully managed to slim down their Kiox 300 set up and retrofitted the little mini remote and system controller?

Am i right in saying you can run a mini remote with a kiox 300 display?

You are right.

As to the question about retrofitting a bike with mini remote and system controller, that is a different task. It can be done, but where do you mount the system controller? Normally it belongs into a hole on the top of the top tube.
