    Trek Warranty and Blazing Saddles

I purchased my Rail 7 from them earlier this year. Quick to respond and deal with my questions when purchasing but I also asked them to throw a knock block adapter in with the bike which wasn’t done for delivery. I emailed them 3 times about it and called multiple times with no success so just...

    My Rail, Resting on Stuff

Took a little jaunt from Dundee to Carnoustie via Barry Buddon today. 34.40 miles done, cold feet but really enjoyed it. Saw somebody else on the same bike as me which was nice.

Whether to mullet my Rail or not.

I found similar dents in my rim last week mid ride. Rode a bit more cautiously on the downs thereafter. When I got home I had a proper look at it, deflated the tyre, got some vice grips and a flat edge for the outer rim to brace it and bent the rim back into shape. Rode it again mid week and...

    My Rail, Resting on Stuff

Wee trip up the Sidlaws this morning. Better than I remember as I haven’t been up for years. Didn’t go far as had my non ebike mate with me but nice to get (very) muddy again. Yet another clean required when I got home but worth it.

    My Rail, Resting on Stuff

Wee trip up to Loch Muick today. Went with 2 guys on normal bikes who said even you will struggle on the steep bits... well I cleared 80% of the 2 big climbs today. Only the boulders positioning on some parts really stopped progress. The downhill section was marvellous aswell but put 2 health...

    My Rail, Resting on Stuff

I would say yes. It’s minimal but I have used it for years so kind of got used to it.

    My Rail, Resting on Stuff

My rail resting at various spots on today’s ride. Left Dunkeld and did Loch Ordie then up to Loch Oissineach and round the top, had issues with soft ground and a knee height peat bog. But overall I enjoyed it. 21 miles done and bike was seriously minting when I got in. All washed and clean now...

    Rail 7 seat clamp diameter

Afternoon all, being a massive bike tart and liking shiny things I’m looking for a new seat post clamp. Does anybody know the diameter?

    Rail 7 breakin rides

I had to bleed my brakes aswell, just used a small syringe with the plunger bit out as my fluid holder whilst I did the whole pull the lever and open the bleed valve thing now. Brakes are much better now and I’m more than happy with them.

What did you buy your ebike this week?

    Pawls: https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/equipment/cycling-components/bike-hubs-and-hub-parts/bontrager-rapid-drive-108-free-hub-pawls/p/21957/ Springs...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Got the 108 Bontrager upgrade kit in the post today. Fitted tonight and must admit I was sceptical when I ordered but it does make a difference. It picks up instantly. Well worth the £15 for pawls and springs.

Trek Rail upgrades, what have you done?

I made it lighter tonight, after riding in the pissing rain for 25 miles I figured it needed a clean. I was then messing about and tinkering and dropped some pliers onto the seat tube just above the charge point and put a healthy chip in the paint... ???. Queue much searching on eBay for touch...

Best brake pads for rail 7

Have you tried bleeding them if they feel a bit dodgy? I had to bleed mine after a few rides as they just weren’t bedding in properly. Feel much better now, although I did experience brake fade a few weeks ago on a long descent.

Turbo Levo SL vs Rail (5 or 7 or 9 etc.)

One thing I realised when looking for an ebike is that weight isn’t as big a consideration, you have the motor to assist you. I’m not a heavy rider and the Rail is 48lbs ish and it flies up hill and downhill. Sometimes too fast downhill..

Turbo Levo SL vs Rail (5 or 7 or 9 etc.)

Not sure it’s a fair comparison as the rail is a “full fat” ebike and the SL is somewhere between a normal bike and a “full fat” ebike. I was considering a Levo SL before I rode a Rail 7, I now own a 2020 Rail 7 and couldn’t be happier. The Levo SL is more expensive and the way I see it is why...

    No, ebikes aren’t cheating

I bought one because joint problems were keeping me from going out on my bike. Since having the ebike (about 4 weeks) I have covered over 130 miles. That’s more than I have cycled in about 2.5 years. I don’t consider it cheating as it has got me out riding again and that can only be a good...
