One option is to change the stem to something that you feel is more comfortable. For me the answer was to change the handlebars to have a 20mm more rise.

For $50, I'd be all over the new one.

Go for the new grey one IMHO... Slightly better suspension and that display you like. At these prices $50 = nothing.

Does it make that noise when you continuously pedal instead of stop/start?

My Stance came with 500wh and I added the 800wh. It was a tight fit at first, but after a few rides and battery removals for charging it's completely fine now.
