New Rail with Tyre pressure sensor

My motorbike has tps , it’s fantastic peace of mind when your riding and you can just check your pressures on the display . It removes that hassle of checking pressures every time you ride , and if the handling ever feels off , due to road surface usually , it’s great peace of mind to just look...

    Tall guy and a rail???

My son in law is tall he rides an Xl Scott ransom , and has struggled on many bikes in the past for enough room . he commented on how the treks felt a lot like his Scott and was a bike he would consider . He even rides my medium without too much trouble.

    Trek Rail 9.8

I’ve got the rail 9 on sram gx I would have preferred shimano . The sram has been perfect so far but I know it can be a pain when it’s part worn . Changing to shimano isn’t so simple you’ll need a different free hub as well as the complete gear system . Iam not sure if the sram cassette will...

What they don't tell you!!!! What you need to know!!!!

Really No wonder specialised had such bad reliability problems , if a basic casing can’t seal out water then it really isn’t fit for purpose . If it was an engine it would leak oil and fail on day one with that sort of build quality .

What did you buy your ebike this week?

After landing on my head last week I thought a new lid was a good idea , very impressed with this One . Now just need my badly bent thumb and bruised hand to heal Head not really damaged but you know you’ve gone down hard when your head is grazed inside your helmet

Additional wheels. Bontrager, ready built or hand built

Iam Considering spare wheels too , I think given the current supply problem with parts I’ll be buying hope wheels , or at least wheels with hope hubs , mainly because they are made in uk and easy to get parts for , plus they do a steel freehub which is better on an ebike and they are the...

    Word of warning.

The sort of corrosion described here sounds like what happens on boats , electricity salt water creates a severe corrosion . They fit sacrificial anodes on marine stuff , apart from washing well I don’t know what the answer is . Removing the battery when not in use is a good idea I guess Just...

    eMTBs and overlanding: some thoughts

I think the only way to safely carry ebikes outside a vehicle is a towbar mounted ebike rack . I just sold my normal bike rack, an Atera Strada because enduro bikes and ebikes are just too big for it . With the fear of theft These days I find room inside the van which is surely possible on a...

What they don't tell you!!!! What you need to know!!!!

That motor looks like the sort of build quality that comes from China on the cheapo stuff . Unless it’s been ridden in salt water on the beach What make is it ?

    eMTBs and overlanding: some thoughts

Battery life is the drawback , your limited to half a days riding really unless the trails are very level and tame . Unless you lug an extra battery which for me just removes the riding pleasure . Emtb has replaced my need for an enduro bike because you can ride almost anywhere . There’s just...

(Some) EMTB weaknesses and possible solutions.

I Tried saw chain oil figuring it worked so well on my chainsaw so it would on my bike It’s ok in the snow and wet but too thick and sticky for most dryer conditions it attracts lots of crap and the drive train needs more cleaning I just use normal oil these days a drop of the same stuff i top...

About me and wanting some advice.

Looking at your description the hardtail is your best choice . Much better to pedal on road, faster and battery will last longer . You can also fit a rack and accessories like mudguards easily ,a rack isn’t possible with suspension on the rear You could or even buy the model with rack and...

How much longer can YT survive?

I think supply and shipping problems due to covid and export costs with brexit has hit the European mail order brands like yt and commencal , they are no longer such an economical choice to buy in uk at least . It will be good for our bike dealers . I guess the message is buy British and...
