Depends where you ride , on my trails I hardly ever see another person so it wouldn’t be a priblem but in busy places or in the road it’s a dum thing to do
I put some Michelin e wild 2.6 on , they were a lot slimmer than the originals , better grip bit slower rolling I actually missed the soft playful ride of the bontrager tyres , so Iam saving the michelins for winter again
have You tried different tyres , the originals are very large for a 2.6 and quite soft carcasses mine , I quite like them but they seem to need a bit more pressure .
if I buy more wheels for mine I think I’ll probably choose hope , simply because the hubs are easy to service and parts are easy...
When my mates and I bought new Commencal metas back in 18 they all had faulty tyres , we were sent replacements , one was unusable it was so badly made but the rest we used and enjoyed the freebies . I also bought a new road bike years ago with a wobbly maxis detonator rear tyre , they wouldn’t...
Did similar on my rail 9 back in April Pedal strike heavy over the bars broken helmet , worst bit was bruising my hands and bending my thumb ,which still not right and making riding difficult at times . Made me question my competence at 57 wondering if I should slow down and just go trail...
I’ve got the same endura gloves , and the stitching is crap on them as well , I like endura kit and have a fair bit inc other gloves , but only those are crap for some reason . As for Evans they are probably the worst bike shop ever I just don’t use them any more .
I did the same thing , guy in the shop when I bought mentioned it could be set in low , so I presumed it was set high as standard and didn’t really check .
i Bought my trek rail 9 without a test ride . From all the positive reviews and trek as a brand I knew it was good , i Think when you’ve been into these sort bikes for a while you know what will work for you and the spec you want A quick spin outside the shop is enough to seal the deal .
not...
I think it was the embn guy commented that the majority of the wins taken on the climbing events were bikes with bosch motors . mosely will indorse trek as a brand more than just the motor
The only problem with the hg free hub was other manufacturers making it in soft alloy to save wieght buy a steel free hub body is its no problem and still the simplest design. You can’t blame shimano for stuff they don’t manufacture
I agree with you on tyre size But iam only now learning about rim width, generally I trust a manufacturer to get it right and lots of enduro bikes seem to run 34 or 35 rims , so I was surprised to find my trek had 30.
thanks you’ve also answered a dilemma for me there , I have a pair of...
Yes I get that , it goes against what you think would be best , I did expect the wider rim to be better . I can feel tyre roll easier at lower pressures as I corner on the drier ground , which at first I put down to no inserts , but I think it’s more about rim width defining tyre shape ...
Something I’ve noticed , my last bike was on 35mm rims 27.5 with 2.6 tyres I needed inserts to cope with some of our Rocky trails .
the new bike is a 29er on 30mm rims with lighter tyres 2.6 . I run same pressures and have yet to have any problems on the same rocky sections . Wether that’s...
Iam blown away with my zeb , I just went with the trek stock settings and it was near perfect out the box . haven’t felt the need to mess with tokens . Will do a service soon though .
My wife has a trek hardtail , I have a trek rail 9 . It’s great to have the same battery and motor in each bike . I end riding with her on easy trail rides with some road thrown in , the hardtail is much better for that and Iam looking at second set of wheels for my rail for these rides . So yes...
You only need to gently file down the raised burns on your freehub , or better still buy a steel freehub if you can get one in your brand . Tighten the cassette well helps stop that happening
It’s nothing to do with gear / chain pitch tgat hadn’t changed , It’s the shifting ratio that’s different , ie the amount of cable the shifter moves per shift , which is the difference between sram and shimano hence it can’t mix with normal shimano
