I don't think the spokes are butted at all on my wheels. Hubs are Deore front and rear, rims are house brand.
Here's all the stuff I weighed (and estimates on the others) vs the upgrades I would do; the items in bold I actually weighed.
That's bone stock with tubes. The tubes are super heavy, 340g each.
With custom parts I calculated I could save just about exactly 5lbs (i.e. 2.27 kg) on the Elite 2, putting it at almost 19kg exactly (41.9 lbs). Still trying to decide if it's worth it...
I'm going to take a good look at the...
Giant's claimed weights are the worst I have ever seen. I just bought a Large Elite 2. 21.3 Kg with 384g pedals. My plan was to do a custom build and get it close to 18kg. There's no way, and there's no possible way the Elite 0 is the claimed ~18.5 kg I have seen floating around, not with Live...
Well in typical large company fashion, we've had now 3 different contradicting replies from SRAM...
Where did this information come from? Anyone reading please note the stroke on this shock is longer than stock so Specialized will likely void any warranty EDIT: for Gen2 and S1 Gen3
Apparently Push is readying a new stronger eyelet for yoke-type bikes as well. No word yet on the official upgrade process but a riding buddy of mine has had his shock on for service for 3 weeks and they let him know the eyelet was being upgraded.
This Thread isn't for posting our anecdotes about using unsupported shocks unfortunately. The goal here is to have a list of shocks that the manufacturers actually stand behind. Though you had a good experience, what we know is that SRAM will not support you if you have a problem.
Edit: this...
In a moment of weakness, I ordered an EXT Era V2 yesterday. Supposed to ship today. Now I'll have a Factory 36 as my spare fork. I'm not a dentist, I promise...
Not enough power. There are a few places that I ride with really steep climbs. I was red-lining too much for my liking with the Rise. If I had nothing to compare it to I probably would have kept it but I was on a Levo before and grew addicted to the power :P
I also didn't care for the geometry...
Hi there!
I only had the Rise for a few rides and then sold it, but I kept the wheels. I put them on a Specialized Epic Evo for a while, now they're on my wife's Rise H30. I've had no issues with them, but I'm not hard on wheels either in general. I run a 1500g wheelset on my 46lb Mondraker...
The caps are not for retention. The caps are for preload ("pre" as in "before tightening"). If you crank falls off, it's not because of the cap. It's because the crank bolts were loose. The caps don't have enough torque or material to keep your cranks on under any non-trivial load.
The plastic...
I serviced my 2021 Fox 36 at ~34 hours. The foam rings were bone dry. I'm not convinced the lower leg bypass channels to anything when riding.
I suppose if you stored the bike upside down (which has it's own downsides) they might help, except in that case the channels need to be on the front of...
