I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Thanks for the quick reply @Sameroquay. Yes, the magnet you are using is the correct kind. Would you be able to try it without the cover on as well to see if it works? Regarding your last picture and question, I don't understand what you are asking. One thing to note is that the placement of...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @Sameroquay. I'm really sorry the LSS isn't working for the 2018 Levo, but if you are willing I can try and help you to get it working (even if it means I have to re-design it for the 2018). For now I see these main differences: 1) 2018 has less frame clearance than 2019. This can be fixed...

    Lightest Bike

I was starting to think the Bulls Wild Flow EVO was vaporware for the USA, but I was at the Sea Otter classic last weekend and they had one there (no test rides though). The Bulls rep said it literally just came in 2 days before the Sea Otter Classic and hadn't even had time to weigh it. Looks...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @breaky33, thanks for the order! You'll be getting the latest iteration of the LSS, but I'm not really calling it 2.0. The current versions of the LSS and LSS DT allow you to mix and match components as every piece is compatible with the others. The big change of a 2.0 version would be for...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

I've had a few people with 2018 Levos message me about using the LSS since they were concerned about using BLEvo to circumvent the speed limit in software as it is possible it could be detected (even after being reset). I'm not up-to-date on the latest, but I thought I read somewhere if...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @TBone, I ordered these: But any neodymium 10mm x 3mm magnet should work fine.

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @Sameroquay, nice bike! To answer your questions, no one I'm aware of has used the LSS on the 2018 Levo's, however, it is possible it may fit. The brake rotor looks identical so that should be fine. The only unknowns are as follows: 1) The magnet location is slightly different (a little bit...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

@pgtips and @oldfox, just finished designing the universal brake rotor mount for use on aftermarket rotors. It has 25 holes around the perimeter to give you a good chance of it lining up well with the brake rotor arms / features. If anyone orders this I would be very grateful if you could share...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Nice setup @pgtips! Regarding a clip to hold the ring gear on the Hope rotor, I wonder if making a 'universal fit' clip would be a reasonable idea? Basically just a doughnut shape (annular ring) that has a bunch of holes in it all the way around and you could use small zip ties or wire to loop...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Someone PMed me and asked about lubricating the LSS to decrease wear. I thought it would be good to post that info here in case anyone else is wondering. I've read conflicting info on the benefits of lubricating plastic gears (especially nylon). Some people say that lubricating plastic gears...

    Comp Carbon or just Comp?

I'm using a pair of Point One Podium Pedals that I bought way back in 2011 for my old Ellsworth. I love the super low-profile which helps give a few extra mm of clearance. Sadly Point One isn't in business anymore so I'm not sure what I'd get if I had to replace them.

    Comp Carbon or just Comp?

Stick with the comp carbon :). That's what I got, mostly because I prefer the Fox suspension. But the lighter weight is a big bonus for me as this is my first eMTB. My only complaint is I had to go with the hyper red color otherwise I had to wait until May (I've had it since Dec). I wish it came...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hmm, seems to be working fine for me (on Android). Are you on an phone or computer? What web browser? Ad-blocker? Is the option greyed out? What country are you from (maybe it's a regional thing). If you can try Chrome browser that would be your best bet.

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @Levon , All the LSS components can be ordered in either white or black. In the link below look for the color drop down box near the buy button and select either white or black: LSS DT - Planetary Gear Set by JD_3D on Shapeways Let me know if you have any trouble.

2019 Turbo Levo geared mechanical speed increase

Hi @BigFoot, yes the LSS DT will work with the Levo Expert and you can order it here: LSS DT - Planetary Gear Set by JD_3D on Shapeways The LSS and LSS DT are designed for the stock brake rotor so the clip mechanism doesn't work on other rotors, however a few people are running aftermarket...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Hi @smokey_jo, I'd love to read more about your prototyping, but I'm wondering if it would be better if you created your own thread outside the Specialized sub-forum? I just don't want people to get too confused since yours is for the Shimano system which may have a lot of differences.

2019 Turbo Levo geared mechanical speed increase

Hi @BigFoot, I created the LSS (I'm not a company or anything just a member on this forum) and have a ton more info here including how to buy it: I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase - EMTB Forums I'm not aware of anyone else that has yet copied my design and is...

eZesty version of the Turbo Levo

Interesting! I wonder if it is a Fazua based system or simply a smaller battery + Brose

I put the speed limit BACK on my 19 levo

Yeah, 35km/h shouldn't be too demanding on the bike, but I think it comes down to 3 factors (in decreasing order of importance): assist level, body weight, and tires. I ride my '19 Levo with the LSS I designed so the speed cutoff is around 45km/h, but when I ride on the road I'm usually cruising...

eZesty version of the Turbo Levo

The 2018 Levo's could easily hit a real-world weight of 24kg w/ pedals. I'm really impressed by how much Specialized reduced the weight of the 2019s (average of say 2kg lighter), and I'd like to see an equal weight reduction on the next generation. However, I worry with the heavy Flyons and...
