Eddie Currents; Who's using this hunk of plus 2.8" rubber to minimize sidewall slices on chunk and rocks?

I always ride with 2.6 EC in the rear. One of the few tires that deals with the sharp rocks in Spain very well. Lots of grip, and because of the wider knobs they last a long long time. My previous rear EC did over 5000km in fairly harsh conditions (Ainsa Pyrenees / Briancon French Alps etc). And...

Shimano rear mech clutch causing damage?

I always ride with the clutch off. Just works better that way. Better shifting, never have a problem with chain falling off. And that is riding the Alps and Pyrenees. And as the RustyMTB mentions, you can adjust the clutch. I adjust them so i get a little bit of clutch action in the off...

Shimano chain compatibility with Dyname 4.0

I dont know what type it was exactly, but it was black / metal grey. Hope that helps! I have since switched back to a shimano XT chain, because they do shift slightly better on the cassette than KMC.

    Shortening your cranks

So the Hope cranks have a cinch interface for mounting the spider clutch? I doubt it since this is race face specific. Or do you have a different solution for the spider clutch?

How long did your Dyname 4.0 last?

Ok update on the failing Dyname 4.0 My bike shop was very nice and understanding about the problem. They would just contact RM, order a new motor and put it in. For the shop it was a clear case, a bearing that was about to go tits up and was already making noise. Thats what warranty is supposed...

How long did your Dyname 4.0 last?

Sure, i will. I cant get to a dealer right now, because im traveling Spain. So i had the choice to either stop biking, or just continue until it catastrophically fails. I choose the latter. And hey, until now its holding up just fine (~200km later). Just some loud grinding noises and clicking...

How long did your Dyname 4.0 last?

Well, 8 months, i suppose that is almost no mileage at all?

How long did your Dyname 4.0 last?

So it seems that my Dyname 4.0 is starting to fail. There is a horrible clicking (bearing) noise coming from the upper motor bearing nearest to the small chain cog. It has done 5500km... Should be a case of warranty. But still, bit disappointed about this weak spot of the Dyname 4.0 motor. I...

We have a huge problem with ebikes

Im not a fan of motor bolt pattern and battery standardization. Some things just shouldnt be standardized. It hampers innovation. Apply standards where it makes sense, but in this case it doesnt make sense. There is a reason why you cant fit an AMD cpu in an Intel system. There is a reason...

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

Well we can only guess what motivated Shimano to change the design. However the grinding and misalignment problem of those gears is seen with both the early model and the later model. I personally think they shouldn't have used helical cut gears, because of the axial force involved that pushes...

    DIY Overtime 2.0 pack?

Keep in mind that the overtime pack is not just a 2nd battery connected to your bike. It is a mobile charging device, similar to your wall adapter. So it needs to provide a regulated voltage and current to charge the main battery properly. Now technically you could just connect 2nd battery in...

Is my E8000 about to explode?

Did you put the new narrow / wide chain correctly on the chainring?

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

Yeah i have no clue either. Ive opened my motor 6 or 7 times and never had the issue. Maybe something that was calibrated gets out of spec after disassembly? Perhaps it has something to do with splitting the crank axle in 2 pieces, which my motor didnt allow because it is glued together. See...

    STEPS E8000 Motor Service

Look for a spare parts E8000. Those gears are swapped very often because they are one of the weak points of the E8000. So make sure the spare parts E8000 you want to buy is low mileage and has a pristine set of those gears inside.
