I got a Levo Expert a couple weeks ago, had the same concerns about the X2. No issues after 150 miles yet, plenty of jumps and drops. When the shock goes, I know it will be updated to the new 2024 internals. I do have my eye on the new Rockshox super deluxe coil with adjustable hydraulic...
I think the Smashpot spring calculator starts to suggest softer spring rates as your age increases. I guess older people don’t charge as hard as the younger riders!
I ran 22 psi front, 24 psi rear on an Expert I tried out for a few days. The shop even recommended those pressures. Stock tires, I am 220 lbs with kit. I felt a bit of roll when schralping berms, but nothing to bad. Try lower pressures!
Have you noticed that you bottom out more with the 11/6 Over the X2? Some people claim the 11/6 bottoms way too easily on the Levo, but I have a difficult time believing such things as Push is pretty thorough in their testing and setup for a given bike…
Fox is replacing any warranty X2’s with the 2024 model since later March, according to another forum. So I hope my X2 will blow, or get the sloshy sound so I will be upgraded to the newest version!
Pontoon, you mentioned that you are a slow and timid rider. I too was thinking of doing the exact same thing as you, get a carbon comp and go with the 165/170 option for suspension.
I have been riding the expert (not the comp) the last three days, and the suspension feels fine for most...
Hell yeah, that’s the what to do it! I have similar background, couple years older though. I’m going to have to install volume reducer(s) in the X2 as I’m using all the travel, but not pushing the rental bike yet and not bottoming hard. It a good bike indeed.
I did my first test ride on a Levo Expert, and thought the tires were too floaty, like they didn’t bite into dry and dusty blown out sections as well. They felt like balloons, as you mentioned. I think the recommended suspension settings from Specialized is pretty good for when you are going...
Th
Thanks for the insight. I’m coming from a 2014 Large 27.5 Nomad, with a reach of 438mm! A large Levo with 477mm will feel much more stable I’m thinking. I rode a 2020 L Megatower a while back with a reach of 470, the stability felt like I was cheating on the DH’s. I haven’t been on a...
Seamarsh, good points, but I like the mastermind TCU and it’s on the carbon frame version. I also want the carbon frame as they tend to outlast aluminum frames in my experience. Personal preference you could call it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
This afternoon, I’m picking up a Levo...
I get that sentiment. As Much as I want a 170/165 Levo, I think going for the stock Expert is the way to go. Upgrade the fork with a smashpot eventually and then the rear at some point. I’m renting an expert from a local shop next week to test on the trails I ride.
Thanks for your thoughts. One of my daily bikes is a 2007 Foes Fly with dual crown forks, the other a Gen 3 Nomad. I’m looking for something in the 150-165 rear, 160-170 front. No doubt the Kenevo will be a beast, but I’m looking for less. I’m going to test ride one anyway, who know, I may...
Yeah, the wheels will be kind of low end. Eventually I’d replace with carbon wheels. I have Saint brakes ready to go, a bar and stem, seat. I’m thinking of sticking with the Comp model, upgrade the rear suspension, install a Marzocchi Coil in the fork, then upgrade as funds allow. Thanks for...
Interesting. i don’t want to start with a dual crown though, and I‘d like the frame to be designed for a mullet. Also, the adjustments on the Levo seem to give more options. Thanks for your input!
