    Bike van/mpv recommendations

I've had a Peugeot Partner LWB for about 8 years now and covered about 80k miles in it. I only use it for commuting to and from work and for taking the bikes out at weekends. We used to get 4 bikes in the back, wheels still in, but as bikes have got longer it's down to 3 with wheels in or 4 with...

    Hi from Down Under

Hi mate, I have the exact same bike and am also in Sydney. Are you north or south? Either way, there's not much in the way of riding to be had at the moment, and looks like it'll be a while before anything dries up!

Merida eone-sixty suspension pivot bolts - buy

Luckily for me, my LBS called me back and said they'd found a used one knocking about that they were happy to sell me for $10. I now check them before each ride knowing how rare they are!

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

Well, they are serviceable if it's not an electrical issue, as my problem was. As you can see from your Exploded Part List, the bit that contains the electrics is the central bit that all the spare parts are bolted to. So for my problem, the only option was to buy a new derailleur.

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

So I took the bike and derailleur in to a shop with the diagnostics kit and they came to the same conclusion as me - it's broken! I then checked with Shimano to ask about any repair service they offered. But apparently they only replace stuff under warranty - if it's out of warranty then tough...

    When we were teenagers ...

This is my first car - it was a nice day so we decided to make it into a convertible. I actually used it for a couple of weeks like this.

Hi any Derby riders in ?

I wondered when I saw the thread title. Being from the UK and living in Aus, I can't think of 2 places sharing a name that are more different, especially when it comes to mountain biking :)

Hi from the flat lands of Lincolnshire

I used to ride at Thetford occasionally. I think "The Beast" has to be one of the most optimistically named trails ever - doesn't really live up to the name, does it! But I'm surprised there's nothing in Lincolnshire around Cadwell Park - the last 10 miles or so getting there on the motorbike...

Latest full-face helmets with detachable chin-bar recommendations please

I don't think JoeBlow (or anyone else) is refuting the extra safety that a full face helmet gives. It's just that your statement above seems to suggest that there is some other reason to specifically not buy a convertible helmet. But I think what you really meant to say is "just buy a full face...

Latest full-face helmets with detachable chin-bar recommendations please

I was looking at convertible helmets recently and also came to this same conclusion. The new breed of 'Enduro' FF helmets are lighter than the convertibles, and the ventilation is pretty good. I'm sure that in the height of an Australian summer there'll be times when I wish I could take the...

Another new Strava Feature - they're spoiling us

Is there any way to turn off road cycling info? Still can't believe that Strava don't differentiate between road and off-road cycling - seems that they're a bit out of touch with mtb requirements.

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

Unfortunately that's not the problem. I tried doing the RD Protection Reset but as soon as I hit 'OK', everything just powers off. It seems that any message sent to the derailleur gets a reply that causes the system to switch itself off. Am taking it in for a diagnostics test tomorrow - will...

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

The app shows that it recognises the derailleur is there, but doesn't show anything wrong. And even when in bluetooth mode, pressing the shift levers causes the power to go off. Apparently some dealers have a diagnostics device for Di2 - I'll see if I can find one and ask them to test.

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

I was hoping for some ideas as to what the problem may be. Obviously I've looked at it, and from the outside it looks fine. I could try and take it to bits (although the tri-wing screws they use suggests they don't want you to), but I was hoping maybe someone else had had a similar issue, or...

Answered DI2 rear derailleur causes E8000 to switch off

I have a 2018 Merida e160 with the e8000 motor and Di2 shifting. This morning a problem developed where pressing the up or down shift lever caused the power (motor, battery, display - everything) to switch off completely. It all switched back on OK, but as soon as I hit the shift lever (up or...

Merida eone-sixty suspension pivot bolts - buy

Hmm, seems my LBS are having trouble locating any of these. So if no-one knows anywhere that sells them (Australia preferred) does anyone know what size and pitch thread they are so that I can see if I can find a generic bolt to use in the meantime.

Merida eone-sixty suspension pivot bolts - buy

Bit of a grave dig, but I'm in need of a shock bolt (ie the one that connects the suspension linkage to the shock) I'm talking to a LBS and they're trying to locate one, but just wondering if anyone has found an alternative source, or maybe something from a completely different make / model...

    Shimano SW-E8000-L switch teardown

Have you actually pulled the switch apart as detailed by the OP? There seems to be little inside that is likely to go wrong , apart from the 'floating' plate that I commented on in my post above. Maybe this has become partially dislodged so is only working intermittently? Good word - not come...

    Shimano SW-E8000-L switch teardown

Thanks for the post - it made sorting out my issue relatively easy, and the following may be of use to someone else. Whilst having a 'moment' on the bike, I managed to hit the shifter with my knee (luckily I had knee pads on) - after which it refused to change power modes. The levers felt like...

    Adidas 5.10 shoes

My current Five Ten High Impacts have worn through the soles so I'm looking for a replacement, but the quality / sizing issues of the Adidas Five Tens are putting me off. That, and the fact that you can't seem to buy them here in Australia anyway! Are there any alternatives that you (or anyone)...
