I'm from Hertford originally - wish I'd had my e-bike when I was living there as there's bugger all elevation! Is Chicksands still a place to ride - used to get up there a fair bit.
I think we probably need to clarify how steep / rough we're talking. And I'm not sure what you're talking about with your 'making up fictitious scenarios' comment - i'm just pointing out the concerns I'd have with doing what the OP is suggesting.
I think I'd be more concerned with the extra load on the drivetrain. I don't know how steep or graded your firetrails are in California, but here in Sydney they're steep and rough. I struggle to pedal up some of my local stuff in Trail mode (Shimano) and have to shift to Boost. But to add an...
Where abouts did the frame crack? And any explanation / reason as to why it cracked? Would be interested to know just in case there's a weak point on them that needs keeping an eye on.
I'm in Sydney too - I'm amazed at the number of e-Merida's on the trails here. Pulled into the local shops in St ives the other weekend and there were 8 of them parked up at the Cafe after their morning ride.
Can you just clarify what fork you're talking about here - I know the top level eOneSixty has the Fox 36s but I think others in the range use a Rockshox fork.
And if you're talking about the RockShox - does anyone know if it's possible to also extend the latest e-bike specific Fox 36 fork?
That's a possibility - I dropped the seatpost by an inch or so when I picked it up, and the guy in the shop said it wasn't worth pulling the cable through at the steering head (apparently that exit plug is a bit fiddly). I'll try and pull it through and see if that improves things. Cheers
I took mine out for it's first 'proper' ride the other day. Very impressed generally, but did notice a bit of a rattle / knock over the rougher stuff. It's not bad, certainly nothing loose, but just a little annoying as I prefer my bikes to run as quietly as possible. I wasn't able to locate it...
I demo'd both the Kenevo and the Merida before I made a purchase.. I really liked the Kenevo, but it felt quite bulky, and almost a bit too much bike for the sort of trails I'd ride it on. I almost think it would be more suited to sticking a triple clamp fork on there and self shuttling the DH...
Seriously - is that how much they are in the UK? I just bought one (the 2019 model) in Aus and, well, it was a fair bit cheaper than that at the current exchange rate. Strange, as we're usually fleeced over here!
I'm going to be picking up my new Merida eOne-Sixty 900e this weekend. This will be my first ebike (but not mountain bike), although I've done a few demos so have had a small amount of time on them.
Is there anything that owners would recommend doing to the standard bike (both in general for...
