Proof that suspension tuning and set up is critical for ride quality.
The bike is essentially the exact same and adding 0.5 degrees to the HA will not transform any bike.
I read every review with a "grain of salt". The BEST bike is always the one that fits your riding style. Its up...
I would have to agree with this 100%.
I disliked the 2018 and earlier Fox 36's and have always switched to Lyriks. The 2019 Grip2 is a completely different fork altogether.
The Decoy rides VERY well with the 160mm fork ... but wasn't overly surprised that the bike was switched to a 170mm in...
Very possible ? I think the intent was always for a 170mm fork (pure speculation here) but they were limited in 2019 via Fox … perhaps they make a 34 air spring for YT in 170mm length now ??
Let us know what you find out … I have been trying to convert mine for a few months now and...
My tape measurement shows around 16cm (** but not with the fork off the bike) ... so it will be close.
Maybe worth throwing YT a message and asking them specifically if the 2020 Fox 36 Grip II on the bike is now a regular chassis fork with e-bike valving vs the 2019 version with the thicker...
You cannot convert the 2019 160mm fox 36 to a 170mm version unfortunately … I tried and both my suspension tuner and Fox claimed their was no 170 mm air spring upgrade available. If its a Lyric or Yari .. then no problem.
The 2019 E-Bike chassis Fox 36 uses fork stanchions that are 2 mm...
Drop the battery first and its a relatively small distance to go. All the cables are clamped below the battery .. making its removal a must.
I have run a few over the years (just did my wife's e-bike last week … giant bike though .. but same setup).
Since you have to remove the caliper … and...
Frames are made in Taiwan which arguably is still part of China but considered a step above in terms of manufacturing quality due to more regulated manufacturing standards. Disclaimer: A very generic statement I am making though …
The Pro version is NEW …. so I went with the original
So add Rimpact Pro to the list in between Rimpact and Cushcore in terms of weight and sidewall support.(y)
I don't run an insert in the front though as I prefer the lower rotational weight on the front (back not as important)
Once you add some sidewall support to the 2.8 rear tire. its actually quite good.
I added a Rimpact insert and it provides moderate support and decent weight savings (vs CushCore).
So in essence, in terms of sidewall support for 2.8 maxxis:
1. No insert : low support unless high pressure
2...
YT USA seemingly has a very good reputation (proof right here) , but this seems to vary "country by country" as others have not been as fortunate.
I am not overly impressed myself, but am not going to share my own story as it was not a big ticket item (by any means), and I don't want to "bite...
I have always been worried about dust ingression into the battery area (since I live and ride in VERY dusty conditions), so from Day 1 put a strip of 3M clearcoat plastic around the entire interface gap (between battery and frame).
When I removed to put bike away due to winter, there was zero...
I think this was mentioned before .. (but too lazy to search ). I am no means an expert in electrical anything and stick to using mechanical tools (ask my wife - lol)
Is there any limitations to powering an aftermarket set of lights VS the Lupine model that is spec'd for the bike (if...
Review on PB for the new Kenevo may shed some light …. looks like Rusty and Doomanic may be correct that the batteries should be interchangeable and about 2 lbs heavier. Referencing the current weight of the 540 may put it just over (or close to) 9 lbs for the 700wh version.
"Apart from the...
Elon I am sure would be up to the task  … Alternatively I was thinking that after 35 years, somebody would have finally figured out how to retrofit a "flux capacitor" into an e-bike by now too (y)
I am still a bit "on the fence" regarding the 700wh battery.
Sure I want the extra range, but not sure if I am willing to accept the extra weight trade off
The current battery is just over 8 lbs … adding a 10lb battery (assuming here) is where I am struggling a bit
Will wait...
I find the changes modest but not overly surprising (except for the lack of a larger battery)
170 mm fork comments:
I tried every possible option to upgrade my 160mm version to 170mm  and hit a dead end as it was not possible as the Fox36 E-bike optimized "chassis" fork uses a Fox 34...
I am going to try these thick rubber "anti vibration" pads designed for underneath heavy equipment (ie washing machines)
The idea is to "taper" them to a point at the front, and just have the rubber protrude about 5mm below the chainring (they are 10mm thick). This should help against...
I am looking for the same setup, and agree the chainring often hits a rock first.
Trying to visualize some form of "triangular wedge" that can be epoxied to the bottom. This would allow for deflection (without stopping the bike) and protect the chain/chainring exposure from logs and rocks.
I...
Hey All
I am VERY experienced using both Carbon and Aluminum bars, but have a question for those who have made the switch on an E-Bike.
I know all the pros and cons in terms of vibration dampening, etc., but the ONE single area that has me a bit concerned about making the switch is compliancy...
